Ambos est\u00e1n manteniendo durante los \u00faltimos a\u00f1os una gran actividad dentro de la escena del jazz y especialmente dentro de la libre improvisaci\u00f3n. <i>Trumpets and Drums<\/i> recoge la actuaci\u00f3n de ambos en la 53\u00aa edici\u00f3n del Ljubljana Jazz Festival en junio de 2012. Para hacer honor al t\u00edtulo los trompetistas fueron acompa\u00f1ados por dos pesos pesados de la bater\u00eda: el brit\u00e1nico Paul Lytton y el eternamente joven en apariencia Jim Black. El primero es un m\u00fasico habitual en la discograf\u00eda de Wooley pr\u00e1cticamente desde el inicio de su carrera, con el que ha grabado en diferentes formatos, y que a su vez tambi\u00e9n ha llegado a grabar con Evans. El segundo ha sido integrante durante los \u00faltimos meses de distintos proyectos de Peter Evans. El CD que recoge esta actuaci\u00f3n incluye \u00fanicamente dos pistas (\u201cBeginning\u201d y \u201cEnd\u201d, de 34 y 21 minutos respectivamente). Las improvisaciones de los cuatro m\u00fasicos permanecen abiertas al di\u00e1logo de principio a fin. Ambos trompetistas ya hab\u00edan grabado juntos con anterioridad, aunque a diferencia de esas ocasiones aqu\u00ed prima un cierto ambiente relajado, favorecido por los espacios que ambos m\u00fasicos disfrutan tanto en solitario como acompa\u00f1ados por los bateristas. Lejos de plantear un <i>tour de force<\/i> trompet\u00edstico, ambos\u00a0 muestran sus cartas, pero sin que el terreno se convierta en un campo de batalla, en un mero lugar lleno de exhibicionismo hueco. Mostrando cada uno de ellos su manera de afrontar la improvisaci\u00f3n y de exprimir el uso de su instrumento, logran que cada uno de los temas sea un caleidoscopio que muestre los diferentes enfoques que cada uno de los m\u00fasicos adopta frente a la creaci\u00f3n instant\u00e1nea.
