Director del programa de jazz en la Universidad de Wisconsin\u2013Madison, Wallmann ha sabido equilibrar su faceta acad\u00e9mica con una producci\u00f3n discogr\u00e1fica que no deja de sorprender. El proceso culmin\u00f3 en una sesi\u00f3n neoyorquina con m\u00fasicos de primer nivel. Ingrid Jensen aporta su sonido expansivo y c\u00e1lido en la trompeta, mientras Dayna Stephens despliega un fraseo elegante y flexible en el saxo tenor. Adam Nussbaum, con d\u00e9cadas de experiencia, imprime una base r\u00edtmica que oscila entre la firmeza y la sutileza, y Moran sostiene el conjunto con un contrabajo s\u00f3lido y expresivo.<\/p>\n<p>Esa idea de transiciones se traduce en una serie de composiciones que funcionan como escenarios imaginarios. Cada pieza es un ecosistema sonoro con su propia l\u00f3gica interna. \u201cNot Tired\u201d, la apertura, es casi program\u00e1tica: el motivo inicial, delicado y repetitivo, sugiere la calma previa al sue\u00f1o, pero pronto se ve interrumpido por desarrollos que expresan inquietud y energ\u00eda residual. La interacci\u00f3n entre piano y trompeta en esta secci\u00f3n es ejemplar, con Jensen aportando l\u00edneas que parecen flotar sobre la base arm\u00f3nica.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cInto the Rain\u201d y \u201cBlind Spot\u201d contrastan en car\u00e1cter. La primera se construye sobre ritmos insinuantes y texturas que evocan la naturaleza, mientras la segunda apuesta por la densidad urbana, con frases cortantes y un pulso m\u00e1s marcado. \u201cIce Planet\u201d es quiz\u00e1 la pieza m\u00e1s audaz: comienza con fragmentos disonantes que crean sensaci\u00f3n de vac\u00edo, antes de transformarse en una melod\u00eda expansiva que sugiere esperanza en medio de la desolaci\u00f3n.<\/p>\n<p>El tramo final del disco alterna humor y contemplaci\u00f3n. \u201cThe Towel Snapper\u201d introduce un esp\u00edritu juguet\u00f3n, con intercambios r\u00e1pidos entre los solistas, mientras \u201cNear Orbit\u201d y \u201cAnnus Mirabilis\u201d devuelven al oyente a la esfera de lo et\u00e9reo. En estas piezas, la bater\u00eda de Nussbaum y el contrabajo de Moran construyen un colch\u00f3n r\u00edtmico que permite al piano desplegar l\u00edneas mel\u00f3dicas de gran lirismo.<\/p>\n<p>M\u00e1s all\u00e1 de lo musical, <em>Not Tired<\/em> refleja la madurez de Wallmann como compositor y l\u00edder. Su escritura equilibra estructura y libertad, y su direcci\u00f3n fomenta la interacci\u00f3n sin jerarqu\u00edas r\u00edgidas. El resultado es un disco que una vez finaliza te invita\/incita a volver a escucharlo atentamente, para revelar nuevos matices en cada aproximaci\u00f3n. Tal y como reza el t\u00edtulo, <em>Not Tired<\/em>, no cansa.
