En \u00e9l alterna sus composiciones \/ improvisaciones con unos cuantos <em>standards<\/em> (\u00abI&#8217;m Getting Sentimental Over You\u00bb, \u00abMisterioso\u00bb, \u00ab&#8216;Round Midnight\u00bb, \u00abI Wish I Knew\u00bb, \u00abYou Are Too Beautiful\u00bb). En el desarrollo de estos temas bien conocidos prima la melod\u00eda, incluyendo algunos brev\u00edsimos casos en los que el tema es apenas la exposici\u00f3n del tema principal. Con un enfoque distinto, el material propio le sirve para mostrar distintas maneras de desarrollar la m\u00fasica. Mediante el empleo de <em>overdubs<\/em> para construir su discurso improvisado partiendo de una ausencia total de melod\u00eda, ralizando un homenaje a maestros como Thelonious Monk, o empleando aires orientales. Hay temas con un car\u00e1cter planeador, y otros en los que se centra en la exploraci\u00f3n de los sonidos que puede extraer de su instrumento empleando las notas agudas, o en el roce del aire al pasar por el interior de la trompeta.
