En el mismo disco conviven ejemplos de <em>jazz-rock<\/em> descarnado (\u201cTsunami\u201d) con devaneos de <em>rhythm&amp;blues<\/em> vocal (\u201cIf Six Was Nine\u201d), <em>funk<\/em> basado en un <em>riff<\/em> (\u201cZuke\u201d) o <em>jazz fusion<\/em> sofisticado (\u201cFive Storks\u201d, \u201cAliens\u201d), con prominente uso de guitarras el\u00e9ctricas. La presencia de los hermanos Brecker se hace notable en \u201cTune For Tony\u201d, no solo en su interpretaci\u00f3n sino en el aire mel\u00f3dico del tema, que bien podr\u00eda haber sido composici\u00f3n de Michael. Completa el potaje una revisi\u00f3n del \u201cNaima\u201d de John Coltrane que, a pesar de sus bellas sonoridades, no empasta del todo con el resto del material.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><em>The State Of Things<\/em> contiene detalles de altura, composiciones e improvisaciones de inter\u00e9s y una producci\u00f3n cuidada.
