En las \u00faltimas d\u00e9cadas el universo jazz\u00edstico ha contemplado todo tipo de colaboraciones entre distintos instrumentos, pero se hace dif\u00edcil recordar un d\u00fao de saxo y acorde\u00f3n, m\u00e1s concretamente de saxo soprano y acorde\u00f3n. Pues helo aqu\u00ed, y no como simple an\u00e9cdota. El acordeonista gallego V\u00edctor Prieto, residente en Nueva York, se une al saxofonista Chris Cheek (ambos comenzaron a colaborar en el New York Jazz Tango Project de Emilio Solla) para ofrecernos un CD elegante e incisivo, cuyo t\u00edtulo (Rollo Coaster) mezcla idiomas y conceptos: \u201cRollo\u201d por el \u201cbuen rollo\u201d espa\u00f1ol, \u201c<em>coaster<\/em>\u201d apelando a quien se mueve despacio y sin esfuerzo, y ambas recordando a un <em>roller coaster<\/em>, o lo que aqu\u00ed llamamos \u201cmonta\u00f1a rusa\u201d.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">El CD aborda seis originales de Prieto, dos de Cheek, tres versiones y tres improvisaciones libres. Aunque a veces el gallego utiliza su instrumento de forma percusiva, por lo general ambos int\u00e9rpretes tocan de acuerdo a la ortodoxia, demostrando lo bien que funcionan juntas las dos tesituras. Prieto suena a bandone\u00f3n m\u00e1s de lo que suele, aportando un lirismo que contrasta con el espacio abierto que encuentra en las improvisaciones libres. Cheek mezcla un <em>swing<\/em> contagioso con un sonido m\u00e1s cl\u00e1sico, especialmente patente en su original \u201cShelter\u201d.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">Adem\u00e1s de la autoedici\u00f3n de este CD, el d\u00fao tambi\u00e9n ha publicado un DVD grabado en directo en Nueva York.
