Es la opini\u00f3n, en forma de corolario, que ofrece Michelle Mercer, periodista de la cadena de radio p\u00fablica estadounidense NPR, en el \u00faltimo cap\u00edtulo de esta su biograf\u00eda, m\u00e1s que autorizada, de Wayne Shorter. Con pr\u00f3logo del propio m\u00fasico y prefacio de Herbie Hancock, Mercer repasa la vida del gran saxofonista como si de una novela rom\u00e1ntica se tratase, ahondando en las revelaciones ocurridas en la vida de Shorter y en su profunda incursi\u00f3n en la religi\u00f3n budista.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">\u00a0<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">Que nadie espere un texto objetivo, exhaustivo y musicol\u00f3gicamente serio. M\u00e1s bien estamos ante una autobiograf\u00eda encubierta (la mayor\u00eda del contenido surge de conversaciones con el m\u00fasico, junto a quien la autora aparece firmando ejemplares del libro en una fotograf\u00eda en su p\u00e1gina web) en la que ni siquiera se incluye una discograf\u00eda del maestro. La admiraci\u00f3n y condescendencia con que Michelle Mercer trata la carrera de Shorter eludiendo los detalles musicales, profundizando en el anecdotario personal y exaltando el \u00e1urea m\u00edstica del m\u00fasico convierten a este <em>Footprints <\/em>en una especie de manual de auto-ayuda que decepcionar\u00e1 a los lectores habituados a la prosa de autores como Brian Priestley, Lewis Porter, Gary Giddins, Ted Gioia, Stuart Nicholson o Alyn Shipton.
