A\u00fan as\u00ed ser\u00eda una pena que se le recordara m\u00e1s por su ocasional faceta de actor que por la de m\u00fasico. De muestra un bot\u00f3n: este <em>Our Man in Paris<\/em> es toda una gu\u00eda de jazz para novatos e iniciados, para expertos y para m\u00fasicos. Gordon y el tr\u00edo que le acompa\u00f1a surcan siete <em>standards <\/em>(cinco en el LP original) con tal agilidad y desenvoltura que acu\u00f1an versiones can\u00f3nicas de los mismos. Las improvisaciones del l\u00edder discurren con desparpajo y sinceridad llevado en volandas por un tr\u00edo de ensue\u00f1o: al piano el mism\u00edsimo Bud Powell (s\u00ed, en cuya vida est\u00e1 basado parte del personaje que represent\u00f3 Gordon en <em>Round Midnight<\/em>), al contrabajo Pierre Michelot (ofreciendo notas de peso en la introducci\u00f3n a \u00abA Night in Tunisia\u00bb) y a la bater\u00eda Kenny Clarke.
