En <em>Black Music, White Business<\/em> (\u201cM\u00fasica negra, negocios blancos\u201d), Kofsky destapa episodios oscuros de la historia del jazz y levanta la alarma en lo relativo al trato entre m\u00fasicos negros y discogr\u00e1ficas, desmitificando figuras como las del te\u00f3rico mecenas del jazz John Hammond o la discogr\u00e1fica Prestige, que tantos \u00e9xitos cosech\u00f3 en los a\u00f1os 50 gracias a las figuras de color del momento.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">El problema, como siempre, es el radicalismo. En su denuncia Kofsky toma una postura de fuerza que no beneficia en absoluto la credibilidad de su texto. El \u201cojo por ojo, diente por diente\u201d en este caso combate el sesgo de la historia oficial con el sesgo de una postura opuestamente enfrentada. Una pena, porque algunas de las ideas desgranadas en <em>Black Music, White Business<\/em> invitan a reflexiones necesarias y acercan a la realidad hist\u00f3rico-social del jazz, pero el autor se pierde en justificaciones gratuitas, manipulaciones en la redacci\u00f3n y una permanente defensa de su propio trabajo como escritor, hasta el punto de ocultar el tema de fondo con su propio ego. Si el halag\u00fce\u00f1o principio del libro arroja luz acerca de figuras hist\u00f3ricamente sobrevaloradas, en p\u00e1ginas posteriores el autor vierte r\u00edos de tinta para criticar a otros escritores como Leonard Feather, Nat Hentoff, Martin Williams o Ira Gitler, convirtiendo el texto en un documento autojustificativo donde todo vale para defender sus posturas con respecto a las de sus colegas.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">Como curioso ap\u00e9ndice el libro incluye el contrato que uni\u00f3 al pianista Mark Levine a la compa\u00f1\u00eda Catalyst Records en 1976, y que ejemplifica c\u00f3mo las condiciones laborales de los <em>jazzmen <\/em>negros nunca han sido tan limpias como debieran.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">\u00a0<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: right\">\u00a9 2008 <a title=\"arturomora@gmail.com\" href=\"mailto:arturomora@gmail.com\">Arturo Mora Rioja<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>BLACK MUSIC, WHITE BUSINESS.
