Si escuchar las grabaciones de los a\u00f1os sesenta del pianista Jan Johansson es revelador, no lo es menos hincar el diente a los arreglos\u00a0del trompetista Bengt-Arne Wallin en la misma \u00e9poca. Siggi Loch,\u00a0fact\u00f3tum del sello discogr\u00e1fico ACT, tuvo a bien publicar en 1998 una reedici\u00f3n de la Bengt-Arne Wallin Orchestra como\u00a0<em>The Birth of Swedish Folk Jazz\u00a0<\/em>(el nacimiento del jazz folk sueco) en doble CD junto a una reinterpretaci\u00f3n moderna dirigida por el veterano artista en el festival JazzBaltica de 1997. En ella encontramos a Wallin rodeado de m\u00edticos m\u00fasicos suecos como el clarinetista Arne Domn\u00e9rus y el contrabajista Georg Riedel junto a figuras estadounidenses como el trompetista Idrees Sulieman y el saxofonista Sahib Shihab. Dentro del repertorio destaca \u00abPekkos-Pers brudmarsch\u00bb (la marcha nupcial de Pekkos-Pers),\u00a0una aut\u00e9ntica marcha presentada por\u00a0la caja de la bater\u00eda donde el sonido brillante de los vientos\u00a0repite sin cesar un motivo r\u00edtmico que da paso a diversas\u00a0improvisaciones sobre varios compases, dando la impresi\u00f3n de que el tiempo ha quedado suspendido. La tupla tensi\u00f3n-relajaci\u00f3n cobra una vida especial en un arreglo que\u00a0adem\u00e1s de mezclar jazz con folclore sueco incluye secciones muy cercanas a la m\u00fasica cl\u00e1sica.
