Los de San Francisco, de la Costa Oeste como los Singers, inauguraban la era de la posmodernidad en los cuartetos. A prncipios de los 90, claramente dentro del jazz neoyorquino, Medeski Martin &amp; Wood hac\u00edan lo propio sumando cocteleras de estilo que no han dejado de agrandar. Los Singers de Cline tambi\u00e9n representan esa actitud posmoderna basada en el criterio contrastado, el rigor y la solvencia interpretativa: nada de los residuos que acabaron definiendo esta tendencia.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cLos Cantores\u201d es el proyecto ma\u0301s destacado y longevo de Cline, grupo y planteamiento instrumental multitarea en la que no hay subordinaci\u00f3n entre melod\u00eda, ritmo, ruido y timbres, pues todos son rangos alternos y alterados por el laboratorio de Cline. \u00a0Grupo que es tr\u00edo \u201cb\u00e1sico\u201d de guitarra, bajo (Devin Hoff es sustituido por Trevor Dunn, una elecci\u00f3n de perfil continuista) y Scott Amendola a la bater\u00eda, que suele gustar de compartir \u00a0invitados. \u00a0Las claves distintivas en este grupo parten de la disoluci\u00f3n activa de las fronteras de estilo (rock, jazz, folk, <em>world music<\/em>) y se nutren y expresan gracias a una estructura que combina el formato abreviado y el desarrollo inconcluso, jugando con motivos en expansi\u00f3n, relajacio\u0301n y\/o saturacio\u0301n. El uso audaz de mu\u0301ltiples efectos y distorsiones y la acumulacio\u0301n de tensiones, atm\u00f3sferas y timbres punzantes dan lugar a una poe\u0301tica turbadora, sucia y elegante a la vez, que se expresa sin adscripci\u00f3n alguna de lenguaje.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u00abCanale\u00b4s Cabeza\u00bb es el tema m\u00e1s enfocado hacia un sonido natural y un fraseo jazz\u00edstico. \u00abRespira\u00bb marca la tendencia hacia lo afrobrasile\u00f1o, en combinaci\u00f3n Hermeto Pascoal-Caetano Veloso tra\u00edda por Baden Powell, h\u00e9roes, nos comenta Cline, de un Brasil que con Baptista, que se sum\u00f3 sorpresivamente a la gira del grupo presentando este trabajo, toma cuerpo, identidad y selva. Sonido de los 70, ritmos afros y de fusi\u00f3n exuberante a lo Arto Moreira, aqu\u00ed reproducido por Cyro Baptista. \u00abRed before organge\u00bb es como <em>lounge music<\/em> espacial, \u201c<em>smooth jazz<\/em> con algo de Jimi Hendrix\u201d, algo como George Benson abducido por el esp\u00edritu ruidoso del <em>free jazz<\/em>\u2026 m\u00fasica de un dise\u00f1o tan sofisticada en sus l\u00edneas como s\u00f3lida: no es pl\u00e1stico. \u00abThe Weeding Band\u00bb es la pieza m\u00e1s larga que posibilita la construcci\u00f3n ultras\u00f3nica de Cline, en un ejerci\u00f3-s\u00edntesis de estilo que los Talking Heads podr\u00edan haber hecho, no es rock, no es <em>world music<\/em>, era otra cosa&#8230; \u00bf<em>art-rock<\/em>?\u2026 pues eso. \u00abClimb Down\u00bb es una pieza corta, concentrada en motivos que sugieren (todo es posible en este grupo) el visionario <em>FourthWorld<\/em> de Eno &amp; Byrne con reminiscencias industriales y viajeras.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">El mensaje electr\u00f3ac\u00fastico llevado a lo sideral en las manos de Cline abduce al conjunto. El trabajo de Cline sobre la base de una paleta infinita de sonidos, sobre-exposiciones y repeticiones, masas en suspense, melodi\u0301as aisladas en el silencio o entre decorados enervantes y pla\u0301cidos, provocan una fantasi\u0301a instrumental y un prodigio te\u0301cnico \u00fanico.
