En este caso nos encontramos ante la edici\u00f3n revisada de la biograf\u00eda que escribi\u00f3 a principios de los 80 el trompetista escoc\u00e9s <strong>Ian Carr<\/strong>. Si bien su lectura no se puede calificar de f\u00e1cil, es recomendable para cualquier aficionado al jazz, ya que las incursiones t\u00e9cnicas son bastante complementarias (\u00a1qu\u00e9 gran aporte did\u00e1ctico supone el anexo de transcripciones de temas y solos de Miles!). La biograf\u00eda repasa muchos aspectos de la vida privada del genio sin ning\u00fan inter\u00e9s de frivolizar, sino buscando una relaci\u00f3n directa entre los condicionantes personales de Miles y la m\u00fasica que tocaba en cada momento de su existencia, haciendo especial hincapi\u00e9 en la voluntad de Davis para no repetirse, renovando su m\u00fasica t\u00e9cnica y estil\u00edsticamente cada pocos a\u00f1os, como dec\u00eda <strong>John Scofield<\/strong>: \u00abutilizando su propia voz para expresar la m\u00fasica del momento, de cada momento\u00bb. As\u00ed Carr desaf\u00eda a todos aquellos que criticaron al monstruo de St.Louis por tocar be-bop, por dejar de tocar be-bop, por interpretar partituras cl\u00e1sicas, por dejar el sonido tradicional por el el\u00e9ctrico, por hacer versiones de m\u00fasica pop de los 80 o por rematar su carrera y su vida con un disco de hip-hop.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">El libro, acompa\u00f1ado de una extensa discograf\u00eda recopilada casi en su totalidad por <strong>Brian Priestley<\/strong>, es bastante largo, cubriendo cada una de las \u00e9pocas con extrema exactitud de datos y fechas. Si bien algo se puede criticar es toda la parte referente a los \u00faltimos a\u00f1os de Miles (1980-1991) en la que, debido a la mayor capacidad documental y al contacto directo entre Carr y Davis, se extiende en exceso, llegando a dedicar multitud de p\u00e1ginas a cada uno de estos \u00faltimos a\u00f1os, y provocando, adem\u00e1s, una cierta incoherencia narrativa con el grueso del texto original (al ser material escrito con posterioridad a la primera fecha de edici\u00f3n).
