En 1998 <strong>Hall<\/strong> reuni\u00f3 vientos, cuerdas y unos cuantos colaboradores de primer nivel para plasmar varios de esos arreglos en una grabaci\u00f3n que se torn\u00f3 excelente. El t\u00edtulo, no pod\u00eda ser de otra forma, <em><strong>By Arrangement<\/strong><\/em>. Y esa sesi\u00f3n de grabaci\u00f3n fue el momento elegido para rodar este documental: <em><strong>Jim Hall \u2013 A Life in Progress<\/strong><\/em>, un amplio reportaje sobre la carrera del guitarrista, sus influencias y su legado, en el que se entremezclan con buen ritmo im\u00e1genes de la mencionada sesi\u00f3n con entrevistas al m\u00fasico y a otros amigos e invitados, como <strong>John Lewis<\/strong>, <strong>Chico Hamilton<\/strong> o el periodista <strong>Nat Hentoff<\/strong>. Tambi\u00e9n en la misma grabaci\u00f3n de By Arrangement se pueden escuchar comentarios sobre el artista en boca de algunos de los colaboradores del CD: <strong>Pat Metheny<\/strong>, <strong>Joe Lovano<\/strong>, <strong>Scott Colley<\/strong>, <strong>Greg Osby<\/strong> o la violista <strong>Louise Schulman<\/strong>. Recuerdos, explicaciones, reflexiones sobre la m\u00fasica y sobre la vida.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">Pero sin duda el contenido m\u00e1s atractivo de la pel\u00edcula son las im\u00e1genes m\u00e1s antiguas, en las que se puede ver a un jovenc\u00edsimo Jim Hall haciendo de sideman de <strong>Chico Hamilton<\/strong>, <strong>Jimmy Giufre<\/strong>, <strong>Sonny Rollins<\/strong> o <strong>Art Farmer<\/strong>. Tambi\u00e9n se incluyen fragmentos de una entrevista con el gran pianista <strong>Bill Evans<\/strong>, en concreto aqu\u00e9lla en la que mencion\u00f3 su m\u00edtica frase: \u201cel jazz no es un estilo, es un proceso\u201d.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">Un peque\u00f1o momento familiar con la mujer e hija de <strong>Hall<\/strong> completan la hora de duraci\u00f3n de este interesante DVD entre cuyas virtudes se puede destacar el montaje vivo y din\u00e1mico, alejado de toda monoton\u00eda.
