Reputado contrabajista del cuarteto actual de Wayne Shorter, en los a\u00f1os ochenta John Patitucci era todo un estandarte <\/span>del jazz fusion<\/em>, combinando su instrumento ac\u00fastico con el bajo el\u00e9ctrico de seis cuerdas, con el que despunt\u00f3 especialmente en la Chick Corea Elektric Band.<\/span><\/p>\n

En 1989 grab\u00f3 On The Corner<\/em>, una colecci\u00f3n de originales de sonido el\u00e9ctrico donde despuntaba el tema inicial, que daba t\u00edtulo al CD (no confundir con el m\u00edtico On The Corner <\/em>que Miles Davis grabara en 1972). Sobre la bater\u00eda contundente de Dave Weckl y el colch\u00f3n arm\u00f3nico tejido por John Beasley al piano y Dave Witham a los sintetizadores, Patitucci utiliza la t\u00e9cnica de slap<\/em> sobre la obsesiva melod\u00eda de Judd Miller al EVI (Electronic Valve Instrument<\/em>, \u201cinstrumento electr\u00f3nico de v\u00e1lvulas\u201d). Posteriormente, en su solo, su bajo habla con la textura de una guitarra para acabar dialogando con Miller en una repetici\u00f3n c\u00edclica del motivo b\u00e1sico de la melod\u00eda.<\/span><\/p>\n

Cuatro minutos de intensidades cambiantes, tensi\u00f3n bien resuelta y sonoridades que, si bien han envejecido muy r\u00e1pido, definieron con precisi\u00f3n una \u00e9poca y un estilo.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
