\"TheCon su anterior disco Friday The 13th: The Micros Play Monk<\/em>, The Microscopic Septet ya demostr\u00f3 ser una banda de alto voltaje en cuanto a sonoridad y r\u00edtmos claramente apegados a la tradici\u00f3n jazz\u00edstica, pero con un cierto toque de contemporaneidad. En su nueva propuesta, Manhattan Moonrise<\/em>, hay reminiscencias de jazz cl\u00e1sico, bop, funk<\/em>, y toques de free-jazz. <\/em>Los doce temas contienen esmerados arreglos de vientos y cuidados arreglos mel\u00f3dicos. El contenido del disco presenta viejas composiciones del grupo que han sido modernizadas, as\u00ed como material nuevo compuesto por los dos conductores de la banda, Phillip Johnston y Joel Forrester.<\/p>\n

Los fraseos del pianista Joel Forrester otorgan un cierto marchamo de funk-rock<\/em>\u00a0con apoyo del saxo bar\u00edtono Dave Sewelson en la impetuosa \u00abHang It On A Line.\u00bb Los di\u00e1logos entre los cuatro saxos dan muestra de una banda s\u00f3lida e intensa. Los siete componentes conforman un engranaje casi perfecto, en el que se alternan diversas modalidades sonoras. Manhattan Moonrise<\/em> muestra una din\u00e1mica y una plasticidad que por momentos recuerda a los sonidos del soul <\/em>y el jazz de los 70. Una gran producci\u00f3n y un sonido de primera calidad para un interesante grupo que merece ser descubierto.<\/p>\n
