Y es probable que se tope con la George Gee Swing Orchestra, porque todos los estilos del jazz est\u00e1n al alcance de nuestros sentidos en la ciudad de los rascacielos.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">George Gee cuenta con una experiencia de tres d\u00e9cadas dentro del mundo de las <em>big bands<\/em>. De origen chino, pero nacido en Nueva York, creci\u00f3 fascinado por las bandas de los a\u00f1os 30 y 40, en especial la de Count Basie. En 1980, siendo muy joven, inici\u00f3 la andadura de la orquesta. Pero, aunque \u00e9sta lleva su nombre, actualmente el protagonismo est\u00e1 repartido con el trombonista y director musical David Gibson, que ha arreglado y compuesto algunos de los diecinueve temas que contiene este \u00e1lbum.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><em>Swing Makes You Happy!<\/em> es el resultado en estudio de dieciocho a\u00f1os de trabajo de la banda como residente en el Swing46 Jazz and Supper Club, ubicado en Times Square de Nueva York. Son cerca de una veintena de piezas, pero no son muy largas, ya que dieciocho de ellas est\u00e1n alrededor o tienen menos de cinco minutos, a excepci\u00f3n de la composici\u00f3n de Herbie Hancock, \u00abA Tribute To Someone\u00bb, que supera los seis minutos. El grupo lo forman nueve m\u00fasicos, m\u00e1s dos cantantes y el l\u00edder. Sin duda virtuosos, cada uno con su brillo personal y la suficiente carga de <em>swing <\/em>con la que contribuyen a la energ\u00eda del colectivo. Pr\u00e1cticamente todos realizan solos. As\u00ed por ejemplo, \u00abComin&#8217; Home\u00bb, con solos de saxo alto, trompeta y tromb\u00f3n; \u00abBedrock\u00bb con solos de saxo alto, piano y saxo bar\u00edtono; \u201cI Knows\u00bb, con solo de piano, y otras como \u00abI&#8217;d Rather Drink Muddy Water\u00bb, con el vocalista John Dokes o la cantante Hilary Gardner que participa en \u201cSweet Pumpkin\u00bb y \u00abNo Moon At All\u00bb.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><em>Swing Makes You Happy!<\/em> tiene grandes arreglos, la banda desarrolla las piezas en un perfecto engranaje de relojer\u00eda y los temas brillan por s\u00ed solos. Como dice el propio George Gee: \u201cEs imposible escuchar estas canciones sin una sonrisa en la cara, un movimiento de los dedos o marcar el ritmo con los pies\u201d.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cCount Basie, mi amigo personal y mentor, me dijo una vez que interpretar m\u00fasica feliz hace a la gente feliz\u201d, comenta Gee. De ah\u00ed el t\u00edtulo del disco. La fidelidad a la tradici\u00f3n se inicia en el primer tema y acaba en el \u00faltimo.
