Freedom Now Suite<\/em> del bater\u00eda Max Roach. Una obra creada en colaboraci\u00f3n con el letrista Oscar Brown, cuyo motivo fue la conmemoraci\u00f3n del primer centenario de la Proclamaci\u00f3n de Emancipaci\u00f3n que en 1863 decret\u00f3 el presidente estadounidense Abraham Lincoln en plena guerra civil americana. Por ella se declaraba la libertad para todos los esclavos de los Estados Confederados de Am\u00e9rica.<\/p>\n<p>Acompa\u00f1ado entre otros por la cantante Abbey Lincoln, su compa\u00f1era en esos momentos, el trompetista Booker Little, el trombonista Julian Priester y su antiguo jefe, el saxofonista Coleman Hawkins, el disco es un canto a la libertad de principio a fin.<\/p>\n<p>\u00abDriva&#8217;Man\u00bb, con su letra ir\u00f3nica y sarc\u00e1stica que habla de los tiempos de la esclavitud, incluye un magn\u00edfico solo de Coleman Hawkins. La directa \u00abFreedom Day\u00bb, un tema repleto de <em>swing<\/em>, muestra un vibrante solo de Booker Little. \u00abTryptich: Prayer \/ Protest \/ Peace\u00bb vuelve a ser toda una declaraci\u00f3n de intenciones, que muestra el trabajo de Roach y Lincoln. \u00abAll Africa\u00bb es un reconocimiento a los ancestros y recoge las tradiciones percusivas africana, afro-cubana y afro-americana. \u00abTears of Johannesburg\u00bb, el tema que cierra el disco, representa la reivindicaci\u00f3n de los m\u00fasicos pero llevada a Sud\u00e1frica y la crueldad del apartheid de la \u00e9poca.<\/p>\n<p>En 2010, transcurridos ya 50 a\u00f1os, esa m\u00fasica se sigue mostrando igual de viva que entonces.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: right;\">\u00a9 Adolphus Van Tenzing, 2010<\/p>\n<p>Max Roach. <em>We Insist!
