Las cuatro notas negras descendentes iniciales act\u00faan como un aviso sonoro, al que siguen unos vertiginosos arpegios ascendentes que nos llevan al do agudo que remata esa primera frase. A continuaci\u00f3n, una vibrante l\u00ednea descendente cargada de <em>blues<\/em>, que da paso a varios giros crom\u00e1ticos enlazados pero a la vez suficientemente espaciados. En dos \u00fanicas frases, la trompeta de Louis Armstrong sintetiza la historia del jazz anterior y anticipa el futuro de esa m\u00fasica.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">El resto del tema, a pesar de lo que se ha escrito en ocasiones, mantiene el mismo nivel. Como momentos estelares podemos destacar el arranque del primer <em>chorus<\/em>, un sentido homenaje a la grabaci\u00f3n original del tema por King Oliver, en el que Armstrong lidera el grupo en armon\u00eda con el clarinete de Jimmy Strong sobre el fondo sonoro del tromb\u00f3n de Fred Robinson y que concluye con un arpegio ascendente hasta el si bemol agudo, tras el que Armstrong se toma un respiro y le pasa el testigo a Robinson; el d\u00fao del clarinete <em>chalumeau <\/em>de Strong con el sobrio, relajado y casi distante <em>scat <\/em>de Armstrong; y el solo de piano de Earl Hines, en el que su mano izquierda se desplaza arriba y abajo tocando octavas y d\u00e9cimas, con ocasionales acentos en los tiempos d\u00e9biles, y su mano derecha emplea ya sus conocidas octavas en estilo \u201ctrompet\u00edstico\u201d. Como guinda, ese dram\u00e1tico si agudo que Armstrong mantiene durante cuatro compases (doce segundos), con el punto justo de vibrato, y que resuelve con cinco furiosas series de cuatro notas\u00a0 coronadas por un do agudo.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Dos matizaciones finales: para el que piense que la cadencia inicial de Armstrong es una creaci\u00f3n absolutamente espont\u00e1nea y no planificada, se recomienda escuchar el tema \u201cChangeable Daddy Of Mine\u201d, grabado tres a\u00f1os y medio antes (noviembre de 1924) por Margaret Johnson y los Clarence Williams\u2019 Blue Five y, en concreto, el <em>break <\/em>de Louis Armstrong a la corneta tras el puente (2:12). Por otra parte, para comprobar por qu\u00e9 la calidad como solista de Louis Armstrong estaba a a\u00f1os luz de los dem\u00e1s trompetistas del momento, basta con escuchar el intento de Louis Metcalf (por lo dem\u00e1s, un magn\u00edfico instrumentista) de recrear nota por nota esa cadencia en una sesi\u00f3n de la orquesta de Luis Russell liderada por King Oliver y grabada en enero de 1929.
