Al hilo del \u00e9xito de otras vocalistas\u00a0como <strong>Ida Cox<\/strong> o\u00a0<strong>Bessie Smith<\/strong>, Spivey comenz\u00f3 a grabar para el sello Okeh en 1926. \u00abBlack Snake Blues\u00bb, el tema que inicia esta recopilaci\u00f3n y grabado en su\u00a0primera sesi\u00f3n, aparece en varias ocasiones con otros titulos como \u00abGarter Snake Blues\u00bb o \u00abBlack Snake Swing\u00bb. En esa primera parte de su carrera, entre 1926 y 1931 grab\u00f3 en repetidas ocasiones con el guitarrista <strong>Lonnie Johnson<\/strong>, y con primeras figuras del jazz como <strong>Louis Armstrong<\/strong> o <strong>King Oliver<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">La crisis de finales del 29 trajo consigo\u00a0un silencio discogr\u00e1fico de cinco a\u00f1os que dur\u00f3 hasta 1936.
