En <i>Chicago Hot<\/i>, su estreno en Delmark, recuperan piezas del repertorio de <b>Louis Armstrong<\/b>, <b>King Oliver<\/b>, <b>Bix Beiberdecke<\/b>, <b>Fats Waller<\/b>, <b>Jelly Roll Morton<\/b>, <b>Freddie Keppard <\/b>o un par de cl\u00e1sicos como \u201cI Surrender Dear\u201d y \u201cLiza (All The Clouds\u2019ll Roll Away)\u201d. Unos temas ya grabados por esos y otros maestros, que en la actualidad dan la impresi\u00f3n de haber quedado en un segundo plano. El grupo plantea pocas innovaciones en la forma de desarrollarlos, aunque la brillantez instrumental tanto del conjunto como de cada uno de sus integrantes logran crear una m\u00fasica vibrante que es capaz de transmitir la inmediatez de esos cl\u00e1sicos.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><a href=\"http:\/\/www.tomajazz.com\/web\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/11\/china-moses-crazy-blues.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-4469\" alt=\"china moses crazy blues\" src=\"http:\/\/www.tomajazz.com\/web\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/11\/china-moses-crazy-blues.jpg\" width=\"200\" height=\"200\" title=\"\" srcset=\"https:\/\/tomajazz.com\/web\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/11\/china-moses-crazy-blues.jpg 200w, https:\/\/tomajazz.com\/web\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/11\/china-moses-crazy-blues-150x150.jpg 150w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 200px) 100vw, 200px\" \/><\/a><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">El caso de <b>China Moses<\/b> es diferente. En <i>Crazy Blues <\/i>rinde un peculiar homenaje a grandes cantantes merced a las versiones de temas de <b>Mamie Smith <\/b>(\u201cCrazy Blues\u201d, la canci\u00f3n que en 1920 provoc\u00f3 que gracias a su gran \u00e9xito comercial las discogr\u00e1ficas se lanzasen a intentar repetirlo fichando a otras y otros cantantes), <b>Dinah Washington<\/b>, <b>Nina Simone<\/b>, <b>Etta James<\/b>&#8230; y tambi\u00e9n de <b>Janis Joplin <\/b>(\u201cMove Over\u201d) y <b>Donna Summer <\/b>(\u201cHot Stuff\u201d). La magn\u00edfica voz de la hija de <b>Dee Dee Bridgewater<\/b>, que sabe mantener su personalidad a pesar de un repertorio tan dispar de tan dispares cantantes, est\u00e1 arropada por una gran producci\u00f3n. A su cuarteto (que completan <b>Rapha\u00ebl Lemonnier <\/b>al piano, <b>Fabien Marcoz <\/b>al contrabajo y <b>Jean-Pierre Derouard <\/b>a la bater\u00eda) se une en distintos temas un amplio conjunto de vientos (que suman hasta ocho en un par de ellos), tambi\u00e9n un cuarteto de cuerda, as\u00ed como las voces de tres cantantes en otras tantas piezas.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.tomajazz.com\/web\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/11\/ernest-dawkins-afro-straight.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-4471\" alt=\"ernest dawkins afro straight\" src=\"http:\/\/www.tomajazz.com\/web\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/11\/ernest-dawkins-afro-straight.jpg\" width=\"200\" height=\"200\" title=\"\" srcset=\"https:\/\/tomajazz.com\/web\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/11\/ernest-dawkins-afro-straight.jpg 200w, https:\/\/tomajazz.com\/web\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/11\/ernest-dawkins-afro-straight-150x150.jpg 150w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 200px) 100vw, 200px\" \/><\/a>En <i>Afro Straight<\/i> el saxofonista <b>Ernest Dawkins<\/b> (<b>New Horizons Ensemble<\/b>, <b>Ethnic Heritage Ensemble<\/b>) repasa un repertorio en el que hay temas de <b>Coltrane <\/b>(\u201cMr. PC\u201d, \u201cCentral Park West\u201d), <b>Shorter <\/b>(\u201cFootprints\u201d, \u201cUnited\u201d), <b>Billie Holiday <\/b>(\u201cGod Bless The Child\u201d), <b>Dizzy Gillespie <\/b>(\u201cWoody\u2019n You\u201d) y un cl\u00e1sico como \u201cSoflty As In A Morning Sunrise\u201d, as\u00ed como un par de composiciones propias. Al quinteto base del disco (<b>Dawkins <\/b>a los saxos alto y tenor y percusiones, <b>Corey Wilkes <\/b>a la trompeta, <b>Willem Delisfort <\/b>al piano, <b>Junius Paul <\/b>al contrabajo e <b>Isaiah Spencer <\/b>a la bater\u00eda) se unen puntualmente los percusionistas <b>Ruben Alvarez <\/b>(congas, bongos, <i>shaker<\/i>), <b>Greg Carmouche <\/b>(congas) y <b>Greg Penn <\/b>(congas).
