Su \u00faltima propuesta discogr\u00e1fica,\u00a0<strong>Norbert Stein Pata Messengers<\/strong> <em>play Rainer Maria Rilke \u00abDas Karussell\u00bb<\/em>, propone ocho composiciones de Stein que toman el t\u00edtulo de\u00a0otros tantos poemas del alem\u00e1n Rainer Maria Rilke (1875-1926). M\u00e1s all\u00e1 de otro tipo de cuestiones conceptuales extramusicales (la pataf\u00edsica est\u00e1 relacionada con el surrealismo y entre sus practicantes hay alg\u00fan ilustre pensador del jazz como el franc\u00e9s Boris Vian), las composiciones de Stein plantean unas estructuras en las que los miembros de los Pata Messengers se mueven con gran libertad. Lo mismo da estar ante una balada o un tema r\u00e1pido; ante una pieza que toma elementos de la m\u00fasica cl\u00e1sica, o que se abre a los terrenos del <em>free<\/em>. Si hay buenos m\u00fasicos (<strong>Stein<\/strong> al saxo tenor;\u00a0<strong>Nicola Hein<\/strong> a la guitarra el\u00e9ctrica; <strong>Joscha Oetz<\/strong> al contrabajo, <strong>Etienne Nillesen<\/strong> a la bater\u00eda y percusiones; m\u00e1s <strong>Ingrid Noemi Stein<\/strong> poniendo voz a los poemas), y hay unas buenas composiciones sobre las que trabajar, el resultado viene rodado y se mantiene m\u00e1s all\u00e1 de concepciones pseudo-cient\u00edficas u otro tipo de armazones intelectuales.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">En 2005 el trompetista y fliscornista\u00a0<strong>Kenny Wheeler<\/strong>, y el pianista\u00a0<strong>John Taylor<\/strong> grabaron la obra a d\u00fao\u00a0<em>On The Way To Two.\u00a0<\/em>En 2015, unos meses despu\u00e9s de la desaparici\u00f3n del pianista, y una a\u00f1os despu\u00e9s de que falleciese el trompetista, la obra aparece publicada en el sello italiano Cam Jazz. El repertorio en torno al cual se articula esta grabaci\u00f3n, diez temas en menos de cuarenta y cinco minutos, consiste en cinco\u00a0temas de Wheeler, una composici\u00f3n de Taylor, tres creaciones instant\u00e1neas de ambos m\u00fasicos, y cerrando la grabaci\u00f3n una versi\u00f3n del cl\u00e1sico\u00a0<em>ellingtoniano<\/em> (aunque la composici\u00f3n es obra de Billy Strayhorn), \u00abA Flower Is A Lovesome Thing\u00bb. El encuentro, con la duraci\u00f3n de un LP, tiene la virtud de dejar al oyente (al menos a quien escribe estas l\u00edneas) con ganas de m\u00e1s. Los temas son una excusa perfecta para que dej\u00e1ndonos llevar por las melod\u00edas, disfrutemos con la interacci\u00f3n entre ambos m\u00fasicos, incluyendo algunos puntos con una cierta intensidad que coinciden con los temas improvisados. Wheeler y Taylor eran dos maestros, dos grandes del jazz europeo, que dejan buena muestra de ello en obras como este\u00a0<em>On The Way To Two<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><em>Escalator Over The Hill<\/em> de <strong>Carla Bley<\/strong> y <strong>Paul Haines<\/strong> es una de las grandes obras del jazz no s\u00f3lo de la d\u00e9cada de los a\u00f1os 70 del siglo XX, sino de toda la historia del jazz. Esta es una \u00f3pera jazz\u00edstica que en forma de LP triple recog\u00eda una multitud de influencias estil\u00edsticas (no \u00fanicamente jazz\u00edsticas), desarrolladas a lo largo de unas composiciones \u00a0que son un prodigio de creatividad. Su m\u00fasica es el punto de partida de\u00a0<em>Over The Hills<\/em>, desarrollado por el noneto franc\u00e9s\u00a0<strong>IMuzzic Grand(s)<\/strong> Ensemble, labor para la que han contado con la ayuda, autorizaci\u00f3n y soporte de la mism\u00edsima Carla Bley, <strong>Steve Swallow<\/strong> y\u00a0<strong>Karen Mantler<\/strong>.<strong>\u00a0<\/strong><strong>Jean Aussanaire<\/strong> (saxos soprano y tenor),\u00a0<strong>Alain Blessing\u00a0<\/strong>(guitarra y electr\u00f3nica),\u00a0<strong>R\u00e9mi Gaudillat\u00a0<\/strong>(trompeta y corneta),\u00a0<strong>Antoine L\u00e4ng<\/strong> (voz, electr\u00f3nica),\u00a0<strong>Perrine Mansuy<\/strong> (piano),\u00a0<strong>Fred Roudet<\/strong> (trompeta y corneta),\u00a0<strong>Bernard Santacruz<\/strong> (contrabajo y bajo el\u00e9ctrico),\u00a0<strong>Olivier Th\u00e9mines\u00a0<\/strong>(clarinete y clarinete bajo), y\u00a0<strong>Bruno Tocanne\u00a0<\/strong>(bater\u00eda) realizan una puesta al d\u00eda de una parte de las composiciones originales, manteniendo la complejidad que pose\u00edan inicialmente por una parte, pero adaptando por otra parte su repertorio al formato de un concierto al uso.
