Aunque esta colecci\u00f3n de escritos no recoge la totalidad de su creaci\u00f3n jazz\u00edstica permite disfrutar de cerca con todo un personaje. Su aportaci\u00f3n a la revista <i>Jazz News<\/i>, que se recoge al completo salvo en el apartado de la rese\u00f1a de discos de la que se incluye una selecci\u00f3n, es brutalmente interesante. En un g\u00e9nero de cr\u00edtica musical interesado en el ombliguismo militante, <b>Vian <\/b>no ten\u00eda ning\u00fan tipo de problemas en opinar \u00e1cidamente sobre otros cr\u00edticos, ni tampoco en re\u00edrse de s\u00ed mismo. De reivindicar con un criterio muy acertado a m\u00fasicos que en estos momentos est\u00e1n en la gran historia del jazz (aunque por entonces -inicios de los 50- ten\u00edan el recelo cuando no el rechazo de la cr\u00edtica establecida), o de dedicarse a la invenci\u00f3n literaria centrada en el jazz.
