M\u00fasico, educador, ensayista y escritor, a mediados de la d\u00e9cada de los 70 public\u00f3 el libro <i>Spheres<\/i>. En 2004 <b>Nicolas Humbert<\/b> y <b>Martin Seeliger<\/b> grabaron a <b>Yusef Lateef<\/b> leyendo algunas de las historias contenidas en ese libro (\u00abCream Puff\u00bb, \u00abWhere is Lester\u00bb, \u00abGoodbye\u00bb e  \u00abInterior Monologue\u00bb), as\u00ed como tocando el piano y el saxo tenor, e improvisando algunos textos. A partir de todo ello <b>Marc Parisotto<\/b> cre\u00f3 la grabaci\u00f3n <i>Roots Run Deep<\/i>. A medio camino entre el jazz y el <i>spoken word<\/i>, la m\u00fasica sirve en algunos momentos como una perfecta banda sonora que envuelve las palabras del veterano m\u00fasico, mientras que en otros momentos tiene un car\u00e1cter propio y diferenciado. Sobresalen sobre el resto la versi\u00f3n del espiritual \u201cMotherless Child\u201d, el homenaje \u201cWhere\u2019s Lester\u201d (<b>Young<\/b>) o las dos partes de \u201cRoots Run Deep\u201d que abren y cierran el breve CD (apenas dura 35 minutos).
