En primer lugar, difumina los l\u00edmites entre composici\u00f3n e improvisaci\u00f3n. Su grabaci\u00f3n sorprende al oyente no \u00fanicamente en lo relativo a la composici\u00f3n en s\u00ed (\u00abApparent Distance\u00bb es una suite en cuatro partes de apenas 45 minutos), sino tambi\u00e9n por la manera en que se disponen los solos (\u201cShift\u201d abre el CD con Ho Bynum en solitario) y los obligados; las partes m\u00e1s libres frente a las m\u00e1s <i>swingueantes<\/i> (que las hay y son sumamente contagiosas). Tambi\u00e9n logra mostrar sobradamente la brillantez de todos y cada uno de los integrantes de su nuevo sexteto. En \u00e9l repiten dos compa\u00f1eros: la soberbia <b>Mary Halvorson<\/b> y el baterista <b>Tomas Fujiwara<\/b>. En cuanto a las tres incorporaciones (<b>Bill Lowe<\/b> en tuba y tromb\u00f3n bajo, <b>Jim Hobbs<\/b> al saxo alto y <b>Ken Filiano<\/b>\u00a0en contrabajo), el corneta tiene una relaci\u00f3n art\u00edstica que viene de lejos con todos ellos.
