Sirva como bot\u00f3n de muestra que en A Coru\u00f1a hemos podido disfrutar, por ejemplo, del memorable trabajo que el pianista alem\u00e1n Alexander von Schlippenbach le dedic\u00f3 en\u00a0<em>Monk\u2019s Casino<\/em> o que el repertorio de una formaci\u00f3n local, Monkillos, est\u00e1 \u00edntegramente formado por las composiciones del pianista de Rocky Mount. Un aficionado al jazz se podr\u00eda preguntar si no es el hijo del compositor el mejor habilitado, el m\u00e1s competente \u2013al menos en el plano emocional\u2013, para defender esa obra sobre las tablas. Con franqueza y sin ambages: me hubiese gustado ver otro tipo de espect\u00e1culo. La astilla del palo respet\u00f3 escrupulosamente la fidelidad a las composiciones del progenitor, la reproducci\u00f3n de antiguos arreglos \u2013incluyendo alguna transcripci\u00f3n de sus solos reconvertidos en frases para los metales\u2013, pero descuid\u00f3 enormemente la originalidad que le caracteriz\u00f3 como int\u00e9rprete. Ninguno de los miembros del tenteto recogi\u00f3 esa herencia aviesa, inc\u00f3moda e iconoclasta con la que el homenajeado posaba sus dedos sobre el teclado. El concierto discurri\u00f3 de forma plana alentado por un continuo ritmo de\u00a0<em>swing<\/em>. Los solos que lo trufaron fueron correctos pero cortados por el mismo patr\u00f3n, exceptuando alguna pincelada del soprano o algunas notas traviesas de un Wallace Roney que, sin embargo, se limit\u00f3 a\u00a0<em>bopear<\/em> sin alterar la escaleta. Esas otras notas estramb\u00f3ticas, estrafalarias y la pulsi\u00f3n r\u00edtmica irregular y angulosa con la que Monk avanzaba a brochazos\u2026brillaron por su ausencia. \u00a0La velada se convirti\u00f3 as\u00ed en una historia previsible en la que se agradecieron las baladas por aportar algo de color y justificar la presencia de tanto m\u00fasico sobre el escenario.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: right;\">Texto \u00a9 2011 Quinito L.
