Por una parte, un repertorio plenamente reconocible, con unas se\u00f1as de identidad bien definidas, obra de Thelonious Monk. Por otra parte est\u00e1n las particulares formas de grabar de este particular sello: siempre lo hacen en directo, en un dos pistas y sin realizar ning\u00fan retoque posterior. De esta manera las posibles ventajas (inmediatez de una m\u00fasica que habitualmente suena muy viva), tambi\u00e9n incorporan ciertos inconvenientes: en demasiadas ocasiones la calidad sonora de la grabaci\u00f3n est\u00e1 muy lejos de los est\u00e1ndares en lo relativo al volumen, a la din\u00e1mica y al equilibrio sonoro de los instrumentos. Aunque todo hay que decirlo, si se obvian sus est\u00e1ndares de grabaci\u00f3n, suelen ser unos discos muy interesantes, entre los que hay un buen pu\u00f1ado de joyas.\n<\/div>\n<p><\/p>\n<div>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.tomajazz.com\/bun\/uploaded_images\/duval-halperin_monk-dreams-712724.gif\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.tomajazz.com\/bun\/uploaded_images\/duval-halperin_monk-dreams-712722.gif\" alt=\"\" border=\"1\" title=\"\"><\/a>Por su parte <span>Monk Dreams <\/span>(editado en 2009 por el sello lituano NoBusiness Records) permite la rara posibilidad de disfrutar de este proyecto en una grabaci\u00f3n realizada unos meses antes que la anterior, tambi\u00e9n en estudio. En esta ocasi\u00f3n no presenta las limitaciones del sonido habituales en CIMP, y sin embargo conserva la inmediatez y la frescura del d\u00fao y del proyecto.<\/div>\n<p><\/p>\n<div>Coinciden en ambos CD las revisiones de \u201cBlue Monk\u201d, \u201cBrilliant Corners\u201d, \u201cBye-Ya\u201d, \u201cCriss Cross\u201d, \u201cEpistrophy\u201d, \u201cEvidence\u201d, \u201cMonk\u2019s Dream\u201d, \u201cOff Minor\u201d y \u201cRuby, My Dear\u201d. En lo relativo a las particularidades de una de ellas, en <i>Monk Dreams<\/i> encontramos versiones de \u201cTrinkle, Tinkle\u201d y \u201cOff Minor\u201d, mientras que en <i>Monkinus <\/i>el d\u00fao revisa \u201cMisterioso\u201d, \u201cMonk\u2019s Mood\u201d, \u201cRhythm-A-Ning\u201d y \u201c\u2019Round Midnight\u201d.\n<\/div>\n<p><\/p>\n<div>Sin perder la esencia de las composiciones (la melod\u00eda, la estructura o esos giros t\u00edpicamente monkianos), Halperin sabe alejarlas con su saxo tenor de sus formas m\u00e1s habituales, mientras que Duval aparece en un segundo plano como complemento perfecto del trabajo de su compa\u00f1ero.
