Miembro fundador en los a\u00f1os 60 de la AACM y due\u00f1o desde 1983 del m\u00edtico club Velvet Lounge de Chicago, su carrera como m\u00fasico se ha reactivado durante las dos \u00faltimas d\u00e9cadas.\n<\/div>\n<p><\/p>\n<div>Una buena muestra de ello es <span>Staying In The Game<\/span>, grabado en noviembre de 2008 en tr\u00edo y donde le acompa\u00f1an el bater\u00eda Tim Daisy (The Vandermark 5), y del contrabajista y violonchelista Harrison Bankhead (Indigo Trio). Sin ser el mejor de sus discos, esta grabaci\u00f3n  muestra a Anderson en el magn\u00edfico nivel que suele ser habitual, demostrando que a pesar de la edad sigue estando en plena forma. Un magn\u00edfico ejemplo es el inicio del disco con el tema \u201cSunday Afternoon\u201d: 25 minutos en los que Anderson es el solista casi absoluto y en los que muestra ese sentido de la melod\u00eda habitual en sus grabaciones. El desarrollo de la pieza va de menos a m\u00e1s con Daisy y Bankhead trabajando en un aparente segundo plano desde el que apoyan magn\u00edficamente al veterano m\u00fasico. Otra de las caracter\u00edsticas de la grabaci\u00f3n es la variedad que presenta, ya que aunque la formaci\u00f3n de tr\u00edo es la que predomina, hay temas en d\u00fao de Anderson con sus dos compa\u00f1eros, solos de estos dos m\u00fasicos que sirven para comenzar los temas y lanzar las improvisaciones, e instrumentos como el violonchelo y el <span>thumb piano<\/span> que son utilizados puntualmente.\n<\/div>\n<p><\/p>\n<div>\n<span>Staying In The Game<\/span> no es el mejor disco del verable Fred Anderson, pero como tal y como indica en el disco, \u201cFred Anderson would like thank god for keeping him here so he can play jazz\u201d.
