Tal vez provenga de Texas pero su familia es &#8216;calipso&#8217; como la de Sonny Rollins. Estos m\u00fasicos, por sus or\u00edgenes, tienen un feeling muy diferente del nuestro. Sonny, en sus comienzos, ten\u00eda muchas dificultades. Copiaba completamente a Bird. Ahora, felizmente, encontr\u00f3 su camino. Volviendo a Ornette, no puede tocar un tema tan sencillo como &#8216;Body and Soul&#8217;. Pertenece, como Cecil Taylor, a esa categor\u00eda de instrumentistas incapaces de interpretar un tema con acordes y una progresi\u00f3n perfectamente establecida. Me acuerdo de haber intentado tocar con \u00e9l. Estaban conmigo aquel d\u00eda Kenny Dorham y Max Roach. Atacamos &#8216;All the Things You Are&#8217; pero, al cabo de unas notas, Ornette, incapaz de mantener el tempo y de seguir los acordes, se perdi\u00f3 completamente.
