El dos de Octubre de 1942, Bunk Johnson, a iniciativa de William Russell, graba por primera vez su m\u00fasica en una sesi\u00f3n en el hotel Roosevelt de Canal Street, en Nueva Orleans, a los 61 a\u00f1os. El grupo reconstruye de memoria el repertorio de la edad de oro del jazz de Nueva Orleans. Hay qui\u00e9n presenta estas grabaciones como la m\u00fasica m\u00e1s pr\u00f3xima, que podemos escuchar, al jazz que Buddy Bolden y otros pioneros del jazz tocaban en Nueva Orleans al inicio del siglo XX.
