Carter y Bradford formar\u00e1n entonces uno de los grupos m\u00e1s estimulantes, originales y rigurosos de esos a\u00f1os: el New Art Jazz Ensemble. En 1969 aparece el disco <em>Seeking<\/em> en el sello angelino Revelation. Un disco equilibrado, profundo y potente en cada uno de los aspectos que va perfilando, y lleno de ideas, de buenas ideas. Una m\u00fasica que se inscribe en el free jazz de aquellos a\u00f1os, pero marcando unas diferencias muy claras respecto de otros centros de producci\u00f3n: menos literario e histri\u00f3nico que el neoyorquino, y no tan comprometido con su historia y autoconsciente como el de Chicago. Su v\u00eda era netamente m\u00e1s est\u00e9tica, m\u00e1s abstracta tal vez, y en cualquier caso no tan dolorosa ni incendiaria. Una modulaci\u00f3n absolutamente personal y heterodoxa de una corriente que ya de por s\u00ed era heterodoxa y arriesgada. Esto, de rebote, permit\u00eda que en su particular modo de entender el free cupieran remansos de belleza casi ins\u00f3litos. Cuando a\u00f1os m\u00e1s tarde el sello suizo Hat Art lo reedit\u00f3 en CD, la portada en blanco y negro mostraba unas se\u00f1ales de tr\u00e1fico con una advertencia de limitaci\u00f3n de velocidad a causa de curvas.
