Pincus<\/strong>, fue uno de los personajes m\u00e1s emblem\u00e1ticos y conocidos de la Calle 52, la m\u00edtica calle 52 que reeplaz\u00f3 a la 133 tras la derogaci\u00f3n de la Ley Seca y se convirti\u00f3 en la verdadera Swing Street, o sea, en el epicentro de la diversi\u00f3n de Nueva York y que los as\u00edduos llamaban simplemente The Street. Pinkus era el portero del club 3 Deuces, pero a la saz\u00f3n se convirti\u00f3 en el anfitri\u00f3n de toda la calle. Abr\u00eda los taxis a las damas, acompa\u00f1aba a las parejas hasta los clubes, los acomodaba, les daba informaci\u00f3n, consegu\u00eda citas&#8230; Eso s\u00ed, siempre por un m\u00f3dico precio. Ten\u00eda fama de gorr\u00f3n y de ser un poco \u00abplasta\u00bb. Cuando el tipo ve\u00eda una \u00abpresa\u00bb no la soltaba hasta que recib\u00eda lo una cuantiosa propina. Fue tal su dominio de la calle, que lo apodaron The Mayor of 52nd Street (El Alcalde de la 52). Era moreno, bajito y siempre iba pegado a un gran puro, de ah\u00ed su otro apodo The Big Cigar With The Little Man. Pinkus estuvo desarrollando este rol desde 1942 hasta que un cami\u00f3n lo atropell\u00f3 y lo mat\u00f3 en 1980. Por cierto, Clint Eastwood retrata increiblemente bien toda la 52 en su pel\u00edcula <em>Bird<\/em>, en la que no faltan sus clubes, sus taxis, sus visitantes, su ambiente.
