Javier<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/center><\/p>\n<p>La \u00faltima jornada del XXI Festival Internacional de Jazz San Javier promet\u00eda ser una fecha especial gracias a la participaci\u00f3n de uno de los grupos m\u00e1s esperados por los seguidores del festival: nada m\u00e1s y nada menos que el pianista y compositor estadounidense Chick Corea, liderando un tr\u00edo formado por \u00e9l, el contrabajista John Patitucci, y el baterista Dave Weckl, otros dos pesos pesados del panorama jazz\u00edstico internacional, que forman parte, desde la d\u00e9cada de los ochenta, de los dos principales proyectos de Corea: Elektric Band y Akoustic Band.<\/p>\n<p><center><figure id=\"attachment_38218\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-38218\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption Javier<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/center><\/p>\n<p>Despu\u00e9s de algunas palabras de presentaci\u00f3n de los tres componentes del grupo dirigidas al p\u00fablico, iniciaron el concierto con \u201cMorning Sprite\u201d (<em>Chick Corea Akoustic Band, <\/em>1989) una composici\u00f3n vertiginosa de estilo <em>bebop<\/em>, en la que Corea camin\u00f3 a sus anchas sobre el gran piano de cola, fraseando con una t\u00e9cnica r\u00e1pida y fluida digna de un gran maestro. Patitucci intervino tambi\u00e9n con una improvisaci\u00f3n muy firme y escueta, dejando paso al desarrollo de la parte final de la pieza, en la que Corea y Weckl intercambiaron frases y ritmos a contrapunto en una perfecta interacci\u00f3n. El grupo relaj\u00f3 la din\u00e1mica inicial con \u201cA Japanese Waltz\u201d, en el que Patitucci aport\u00f3 un solo de contrabajo m\u00e1s extenso y elocuente. El contrabajista fue el encargado de presentar la siguiente pieza \u201cThat Old Feeling\u201d del compositor Sammy Fain, iniciada con una introducci\u00f3n de Corea en solitario, para compartir despu\u00e9s la melod\u00eda con Patitucci. Ellos dos fueron los encargados del desarrollo de la partitura, seguidos muy de cerca por la bater\u00eda de Weckl, impecable en sus definiciones r\u00edtmicas. La sesi\u00f3n volv\u00eda a tomar aires m\u00e1s sosegados con una versi\u00f3n del <em>standard<\/em> \u201cIn A Sentimental Mood\u201d de Duke Ellington. El respetuoso silencio del aforo se hizo patente ante la magnificencia del pianista y el sugerente solo, de contrabajo con arco, de Patitucci. El car\u00e1cter latino de \u201cLife Line\u201d (<em>Past, Present &amp; Futures, <\/em>2001) elev\u00f3 la intensidad del momento con sendas incursiones de los tres componentes, sobre todo de Weckl. Corea mir\u00f3 hacia el lado de la m\u00fasica cl\u00e1sica con una corta adaptaci\u00f3n de la partitura \u201cSonata para Piano\u201d de Dom\u00e9nico Scarlatti, para posteriormente regresar al <em>standard<\/em> \u201cYou And The Night And The Music\u201d de Arthur Schwartz, en el que destac\u00f3 la bater\u00eda de Weckl con una demostraci\u00f3n de su extraordinario virtuosismo. Era el \u00faltimo tema de la sesi\u00f3n y el p\u00fablico reclam\u00f3 un <em>bis<\/em>. Corea regres\u00f3 al escenario para introducir las primeras notas del Concierto de Aranjuez, que fue convirtiendo en \u201cSpain\u201d, el tema m\u00e1s esperado del concierto, en el que invit\u00f3 al aforo a cantar con \u00e9l, repitiendo las notas de su piano, hasta acabar en un jubiloso y aclamado final.<\/p>\n<p>El tiempo se refleja en ellos, f\u00edsicamente, pero no obstante su m\u00fasica sigue sonando tan fresca y elegante como sonaba en los or\u00edgenes de la formaci\u00f3n. Una formaci\u00f3n que, en plena madurez, desarrolla m\u00e1s un concepto musical camino de la abstracci\u00f3n y de la s\u00edntesis, con un lenguaje muy expresivo y fluido, delicadamente articulado.<\/p>\n<p>Tres excelentes profesionales del jazz que ofrecieron un concierto espl\u00e9ndido y entra\u00f1able, compartiendo sus genialidades y su buen saber hacer con suma entrega.
