Impresionante, \u00bfverdad? Pero\u00a0<i>Nights On Earth<\/i>\u00a0no es otro\u00a0<i>all-star<\/i>\u00a0sin sentido. Vince Mendoza ha sabido utilizar a cada m\u00fasico en el momento que le correspond\u00eda. Ten\u00eda de d\u00f3nde elegir y lo hizo sabiamente. Lo que m\u00e1s destaca en el CD no son sus int\u00e9rpretes, sino su contenido. De hecho Mendoza solo toca los teclados en dos de los temas.<\/p>\n<p>El inicial \u201cOto\u00f1o\u201d despliega bellas melod\u00edas sobre una base flamenca. Es elegante, funciona bien. No se trata de un experimento vacuo. John Abercrombie aparece en el oscuro \u201cPoem Of The Moon\u201d, John Scofield en el abrasile\u00f1ado \u201cAo Mar\u201d y Nguyen Le en \u201cConchita\u201d. Son reconocibles si escuchamos con atenci\u00f3n, pero no reclaman aprecio. Se diluyen deliciosamente en el arreglo y en la interpretaci\u00f3n. Trabajan para el fin com\u00fan. Entre la mara\u00f1a s\u00f3nica de pronto emerge el bandone\u00f3n de H\u00e9ctor del Curto (\u201cAddio\u201d) para llevarnos por otros terrenos, como preludio de \u201cShekere\u201d y su ambiente africano. \u201cGracias\u201d nos envuelve, Scofield mediante, y \u201cLullaby\u201d cierra el disco con la magia del bandone\u00f3n a d\u00fao con el violonchelo de Fred Sherry.<\/p>\n<p>A todo esto, los temas discurren a medio tempo, ni lento ni r\u00e1pido. Esa condici\u00f3n ser\u00eda terminal en cualquier repertorio, pero no en las manos de un maestro como Vince Mendoza, capaz de mantener la atenci\u00f3n sin efectismos ni estridencias. Excelente grabaci\u00f3n.
