Pe\u00f1alver adem\u00e1s del uso de un instrumento poco habitual actualmente como el clarinete, es el <em>swing<\/em> que desprende siempre su m\u00fasica, ya sea recreando a Benny Goodman, al jazz <em>manouche<\/em> o a ritmos m\u00e1s modernos que nos mostr\u00f3 en anteriores discos, o como en este su quinto trabajo, en el que aborda diferentes estilos siempre con ese swing como bandera y compuesto en su totalidad por temas propios.<\/p>\n<p>En este <em>Sophisticated Clarinet<\/em> el castellonense ha a\u00f1adido un cuarteto de cuerdas a un tr\u00edo base formado por clarinete, guitarra (en unos temas r\u00edtmica y en otros solista), y contrabajo (bajo el\u00e9ctrico en los temas m\u00e1s funky como \u201cAfro wave\u201d o \u201cThe final Funky\u201d.\u00a0 Dicho cuarteto aporta otra dimensi\u00f3n a la m\u00fasica del disco, a\u00f1adiendo color y dando m\u00e1s cuerpo al tr\u00edo.<\/p>\n<p>Temas breves (entre tres y cuatro minutos aproximadamente) que se escuchan con agrado, es un gusto escuchar lo bien que el cuarteto empasta con el tr\u00edo, con esa virtud de hacer que lo complicado suene sencillo y la m\u00fasica fluya con naturalidad desde el comienzo (el disco se grab\u00f3 en una sola sesi\u00f3n), con un Chema Pe\u00f1alver que es pura elegancia al clarinete.<\/p>\n<p>El disco se abre con varios temas en la mejor tradici\u00f3n del <em>Hot Club de France <\/em>pero tratados con un aire fresco y actual, sin ejercicios nost\u00e1lgicos, dando paso luego al klezmer (\u201cThe last Chlo\u00e9&#8217;s dance\u201d), el tango (\u201cSophisticated clarinet\u201d) o lo que Pe\u00f1alver denomina \u201cjazz de c\u00e1mara\u201d (\u201cTreason\u201d), el funky que hab\u00edamos citado anteriormente en los temas finales del disco o reminiscencias en otros temas de la m\u00fasica z\u00edngara o el boogaloo, con unos arreglos que le dan a todo una p\u00e1tina de modernidad.<\/p>\n<p>El clarinetista buscaba fusionar la m\u00fasica de ra\u00edces afroamericanas con la m\u00fasica culta de la tradici\u00f3n occidental y lo ha conseguido plenamente en este excelente disco. 45 minutos de swing y optimismo para pasar un buen rato, que no es poco
