Con una trayectoria impresionante, en su haber tiene 22 discos como l\u00edder, este trompetista de 59 a\u00f1os de Filadelfia dej\u00f3 con la boca abierta a los aficionados que llenaron hasta la bandera la Sala Clamores. Su lenguaje musical entronca directamente con la tradici\u00f3n, y siempre mantiene un logrado equilibrio entre frescura espont\u00e1nea y solidez m\u00e1s estudiada.<\/p>\n<p>Para su gira europea se ha rodeado de j\u00f3venes improvisadores como el saxofonista Emilio Modeste, el pianista Oscar Williams II, el contrabajista Paul Cuffari y el bater\u00eda Malick Koly. Todos ellos, adem\u00e1s de derrochar mucho talento, demostraron que tienen muy bien aprendidos a los cl\u00e1sicos de los 60 y 70. Como hiciera el gran bater\u00eda Art Blakey con sus Messengers, Wallace Roney sabe dar oportunidades a los nuevos valores del jazz norteamericano, a los que insta a que consigan su propia forma de de la puesta en escena de los quintetos cl\u00e1sicos de Miles. La potencia de los metales enseguida se hace presente con una secci\u00f3n r\u00edtmica que en ning\u00fan momento se queda atr\u00e1s. Roney acomete su primer solo con di\u00e1fanos fraseos, que dan paso a la intervenci\u00f3n de Emilio Modeste al tenor en un tempo m\u00e1s bajo con la r\u00edtmica creando un colch\u00f3n del que es dif\u00edcil escapar.<\/p>\n<p>Oscar Williams se encarga de dar entrada a la siguiente pieza en una impecable balada a tr\u00edo con saxo y trompeta. Las intervenciones del saxofonista desprenden un aroma coltraniano. Por su parte, el bater\u00eda, Malick Koly hace perfectamente su trabajo marcando los tiempos, mientras los solos de Roney eran impecables, siempre directos a la diana.<\/p>\n<p>Uno de los momentos m\u00e1s destacados lo protagoniz\u00f3 la interpretaci\u00f3n de la balada \u201cWhy Should There Be Stars\u201d, con inicio de solo de piano y una actuaci\u00f3n de Roney fant\u00e1stica. Como tambi\u00e9n lo estuvieron el saxo y el piano.<\/p>\n<p>El tr\u00edo de r\u00edtmica demostr\u00f3 su gran compenetraci\u00f3n y la experiencia que a su edad ya atesoran estos m\u00fasicos. El contrabajista Paul Cuffari imprimi\u00f3 la fuerza justa al conjunto haciendo siempre gala de su protagonismo y control de las situaciones.<\/p>\n<p>El grupo demostr\u00f3 toda su intensidad cuando era necesario, con unas las superposiciones muy emotivas. A pesar de la previsibilidad de la m\u00fasica, esta es capaz de crear un ambiente de clara complicidad con el p\u00fablico. Las composiciones est\u00e1n ejecutadas con una precisi\u00f3n milim\u00e9trica en base a una arquitectura sonora arraigada en la tradici\u00f3n, pero que son\u00f3 perfectamente moderna.
