Las agrupaciones actuales buscan entre el caj\u00f3n de influencias de sus maestros. As\u00ed, el movimiento se nutre de tal brindado exotismo. Junto a ello, un aura de espiritualidad que roza la t\u00edmida parsimonia. El mercado musical dispensa multitud de estilos y renovados aires. Nunca est\u00e1n de m\u00e1s. Reivindican, de igual modo, sonidos infravalorados. Es el caso del <em>afrobeat<\/em>, olvidado durante d\u00e9cadas. Siempre detr\u00e1s del jazz y el funk. Es de agradecer, fruto de la ambici\u00f3n supuesta, la labor de los j\u00f3venes por mostrar al p\u00fablico estos lenguajes.<\/p>\n<p>Quiere esta ser la motivaci\u00f3n para un siguiente acto de What\u2019s Next? The Latest Jazz Generation. La <strong>Sala Clamores <\/strong>presenta a <strong>N\u00e9rija<\/strong>, banda de estrellas de la escena londinense. Un septeto con marcado car\u00e1cter femenino en aplaudida decisi\u00f3n. Lo componen <a href=\"https:\/\/tomajazz.com\/web\/?p=48891\"><strong>Nubya Garcia<\/strong><\/a> al saxo tenor, <strong>Sheila Maurice-Grey<\/strong> a la trompeta, <strong>Shirley Tetteh<\/strong> en guitarras, <strong>Cassie Kinoshi<\/strong> al saxof\u00f3n alto, <strong>Rosie Turton<\/strong> al tromb\u00f3n, <strong>Lizy Exell<\/strong> a la bater\u00eda y <strong>Rio Kai<\/strong> al contrabajo. Numerosa alineaci\u00f3n vista la media de las bandas del certamen. No obstante, sin\u00f3nimo de una propuesta no menos llena de inter\u00e9s. Prueba anotada en la asistencia.<\/p>\n<p>Se estrenan N\u00e9rija en la noche con \u201cWhere It Ends And Begins\u201d, \u00faltimo sencillo. Sorprende gratamente de inicio la complejidad de su m\u00fasica. No se limita al acompa\u00f1amiento b\u00e1sico del ya aludido g\u00e9nero. Construye un interesante relato cercano a resonancias contempor\u00e1neas. Nubya ejecuta un solo con reminiscencias del <strong>Coltrane<\/strong> de <em>A Love Supreme<\/em>. Singular la tarea de Tetteh a las seis cuerdas. Es posible constatar que su nivel no es el esperado a tenor de sus compa\u00f1eras. El trazo se limita a una mera cobertura de post-rock en detrimento del jazz. Es decepcionante recurrir a los acordes de quintas en estos menesteres.<\/p>\n<p>Sigue \u201cNascence\u201d, introducci\u00f3n del disco <em>Blume<\/em>. El grupo hace suyas las texturas ricas en matices del viento metal. Es el turno de Rosie al tromb\u00f3n. Al margen de la melod\u00eda principal, concede un sentido homenaje a nombres propios como <strong>Grachan Moncur III<\/strong>. Especial hincapi\u00e9 por parte de la secci\u00f3n r\u00edtmica. Lizy exhibe un genuino manejo del tempo. Cuenta con un breve espacio para recoger aplausos con su intervenci\u00f3n. El respetable disfruta a cada nota. Los integrantes de N\u00e9rija se advierten comunicativos con los presentes. Sus caras de satisfacci\u00f3n entre turnos de ejecuci\u00f3n expone que todo marcha por la buena senda.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cEquanimous\u201d impregna el local de colores brasile\u00f1os. Con un deje de bossa nova, evoca los medios tiempos inconfundibles de <strong>Gerry Mulligan<\/strong>. Alternan tromb\u00f3n y guitarra. Si bien es complicado emular a <strong>Brookmeyer<\/strong> o <strong>Jim Hall<\/strong>, cumplen con creces su cometido. Tetteh parece tener m\u00e1s ideas esta vez. Sus l\u00edneas coinciden en el lirismo general del tema. Pasan al funk con \u201cLast Straw\u201d y una sincopada cadencia presta al baile. Sheila se pone en la piel del <strong>Miles<\/strong> setentero con un notable esfuerzo. N\u00e9rija abarcan la atonalidad en todo su esplendor. La profesionalidad es incuestionable.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cPikman V\u201d es la \u00fanica canci\u00f3n que escapa del presentado \u00e1lbum <em>Blume<\/em>. El afrobeat de <strong>Fela Kuti<\/strong> o <strong>Masekela<\/strong> vuelve a relucir. Bater\u00eda y bajo impulsan sin \u00e1pice de v\u00e9rtigo. Tetteh, por su parte, desenpolva el pedal de wah wah. Corren a cuenta de la casa los punteos. Ponen el broche el cuarteto de tromb\u00f3n, saxofones y trompeta. Las m\u00e9tricas \u00e9tnicas se esconden con \u201cPartner Girlfriend Lover\u201d.\u00a0 En este momento, con una edulcorada balada. Una vuelta de tuerca a derroteros como <strong>John Abercrombie<\/strong> y <strong>Gateway<\/strong>. \u00a0La polivalencia del conjunto resulta constatada a lo largo de la velada.<\/p>\n<p>Cierra N\u00e9rija con dos exclusivos broches. Tanto \u201cUnbound\u201d como \u201cRiverfest\u201d encarnan su filosof\u00eda a la perfecci\u00f3n. Un jazz macerado a fuego lento y con abundancia de inflexiones. Menci\u00f3n de rigor a Rio Kai y su contrabajo. De nuevo, la lecci\u00f3n generacional es plausible. Constituye una corriente que trasciende sexos. La ansiada igualdad de val\u00eda entre hombres y mujeres. A\u00fana la ortodoxia que otorgan las ra\u00edces con ese tratamiento destacado. Aporta la en\u00e9sima evidencia brit\u00e1nica, coetaneidad y baluarte. Un colectivo que ha demostrado el estudio del arte y ensayo necesarios.
