Coincidiendo con dicho aniversario, se publica <em>The 3Dom Factor<\/em> en el sello finland\u00e9s TUM Records.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">En primer lugar hay que se\u00f1alar a los compa\u00f1eros del baterista en este tr\u00edo, dos m\u00fasicos pertenecientes a dos generaciones distintas. <strong>Joe<\/strong> <strong>Fonda<\/strong>\u00a0(integrante del m\u00edtico cuarteto de <strong>Anthony<\/strong> <strong>Braxton<\/strong> en los 80) al contrabajo, y el saxofonista <strong>Jon<\/strong> <strong>Irabagon<\/strong> (integrante de<strong> Mostly Other People Do The Killing<\/strong>). Dos m\u00fasicos que van m\u00e1s all\u00e1 de ser unos invitados de post\u00edn para esta grabaci\u00f3n. <strong>Altschul<\/strong>, <strong>Fonda<\/strong> e <strong>Irabagon<\/strong> hab\u00edan tocado en directo poco antes de la grabaci\u00f3n del CD. El baterista no perdi\u00f3 la oportunidad de grabar con ellos.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">En segundo lugar el repertorio es muy peculiar. Como alternativa a publicar un disco recopilatorio, <em>The 3Dom Factor<\/em> sirve para que <strong>Barry Altschul<\/strong> retome composiciones de toda su carrera junto a temas recientes. Las \u00fanicas excepciones son la improvisaci\u00f3n a bater\u00eda sola \u00abA Drummer&#8217;s Song\u00bb (magn\u00edfico broche final para el disco), y una espectacular versi\u00f3n de \u00abIctus\u00bb de <strong>Carla Bley<\/strong>: una composici\u00f3n que aunque ajena, era un tema habitual en el repertorio del <strong>Paul Bley Trio<\/strong> durante la estancia de <strong>Altschul<\/strong> como integrante de este grupo.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Inquieto baterista, <em>The 3Dom Factor<\/em> muestra multitud de facetas. La simplicidad de la balada \u00abJust A Simple Song\u00bb (cuyo t\u00edtulo, en efecto, es toda una declaraci\u00f3n de intenciones). La inspiraci\u00f3n <em>monkiana<\/em> de \u00abBe Out S&#8217;Cool\u00bb. La inspiraci\u00f3n en la m\u00fasica de Mali de \u00abOops\u00bb. Los ritmos <em>funkies<\/em> de \u00abPapa&#8217;s Funkish Dance\u00bb (relectura de \u00abFor Papa Jo, Klook and Philly Too\u00bb). La exigente escritura <em>post-bop<\/em> de \u00abThe 3Dom Factor\u00bb. La belleza de la balada \u00abIrina\u00bb. El dinamismo de \u00abMartin&#8217;s Stew\u00bb (dedicado al baterista <strong>Stu Martin<\/strong>).<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Los tres m\u00fasicos est\u00e1n en un nivel excelente, tanto en el trabajo individual como en el conjunto.
