Y, como dec\u00edamos, en esta ocasi\u00f3n ha sido el propio Mary quien ha llamado a su lado a la Vintage Orchestra, probablemente la <em>big band<\/em> parisina m\u00e1s destacada del momento actual y que el propio Mary cre\u00f3 en 2000, junto a <strong>Sophie Alour, Erick Poirier <\/strong>y<strong> Pierre Bertrand<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><em>Too Short<\/em> es una referencia continua a las grandes bandas que grabaron para el sello <strong>Blue Note<\/strong> y de hecho el dise\u00f1o de la portada ya nos indica por d\u00f3nde van los tiros musicales. El resultado es una colecci\u00f3n de temas, la mayor\u00eda de ellos de buen <em>swing<\/em>, que dejar\u00e1 muy satisfechos a los aficionados a este particular subg\u00e9nero.<\/p>\n<p>Como dec\u00edamos al principio, este es un \u00e1lbum en el que los homenajes est\u00e1n a la vuelta de la esquina: en \u201cDon\u2019t Look Back\u201d, al <em>bebop<\/em> de Gillespie (con una intervenci\u00f3n destacada del percusionista Michelutti); en \u201cOne For Slide\u201d, al veterano trombonista Slide Hampton, o en \u201cD. P.\u201d, que va para Duke Pearson.<\/p>\n<p>A destacar la labor del pianista Florent Gac, en temas como \u201cOne For Slide\u201d y en \u00a0\u201cTo the Lighthouse\u201d y la del flautista David Sauzay en \u201cLike Thousands of Butterflies\u201d y en \u201cSakura\u201d, de aires ligeramente orientales.<\/p>\n<p>Tema favorito de quien esto escribe: \u201c402\u201d, porque tengo debilidad por los pianos melanc\u00f3licos, sobre todo cuando los apoya una banda que nos lleva sin esfuerzo y por unos instantes a los a\u00f1os cuarenta.<\/p>\n<p>Aunque no es probable que <em>Too Short<\/em> alcance el \u00e9xito logrado con el anterior disco de Fabien Mary, <em>Left Arm Blues<\/em> (Premio al Mejor \u00c1lbum, de la <strong>Academie de Jazz de France<\/strong>, 2018), sin duda ser\u00e1 una grabaci\u00f3n (10 temas; 56 minutos) con la que los aficionados disfrutar\u00e1n hasta el punto de hacer merecido el t\u00edtulo del \u00e1lbum: <em>Demasiado Breve<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: right;\">\u00a0\u00a9 <strong>Juan F.
