Si bien se trata de pistas que no hab\u00edan sido dadas a conocer anteriormente, todos los temas resultar\u00e1n familiares a los aficionados, empezando por \u201cA Foggy Day (In London Town)\u201d, (1964, <em>Erroll Garner, Gershwin &amp; Kern<\/em>), que sirve de introducci\u00f3n, siguiendo con \u201cBut Not For Me\u201d (1957, <em>The Most Happy Piano<\/em>), \u201cI Can\u2019t Get Started\u201d (1955 <em>Gone, Garner, Gonest<\/em>), \u00a0\u201cLover\u201d (1950, single; <a href=\"https:\/\/tomajazz.com\/web\/?p=57284\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u00a1<strong>no se lo pierdan en los podcasts de Tomajazz!<\/strong><\/a>), hasta llegar a \u201cMisty\u201d (1954, <em>Contrasts<\/em>), su tema m\u00e1s conocido y que por s\u00ed solo le hubiese ganado un puesto entre los m\u00e1s grandes del jazz.<\/p>\n<p>Sin embargo, Erroll Garner es m\u00e1s, mucho m\u00e1s que un tema (o que una docena). Con su personal\u00edsimo estilo, pertenece a esa <em>generaci\u00f3n maldita<\/em> de <em>jazzmen<\/em>, que nacieron en la d\u00e9cada de los a\u00f1os veinte brillaron con intensidad en los cincuenta y sesenta y murieron demasiado j\u00f3venes. Garner ten\u00eda treinta y ocho a\u00f1os y estaba ya en la cima de su carrera musical, cuando, un 17 de enero de 1959, \u00e9l y su tr\u00edo dieron este concierto que ahora es asequible a los aficionados e historiadores del g\u00e9nero.<\/p>\n<p>Su registro abarcaba los subg\u00e9neros m\u00e1s caracter\u00edsticos de la m\u00fasica afroamericana: blues, gospel, swing, stride, e incluso bebop y aunque curiosamente nunca lleg\u00f3 a aprender a leer una partitura, cuando le preguntaban la raz\u00f3n, sol\u00eda responder que eso era porque \u201c<em>Nadie te oye leer<\/em>\u201d. Garner hac\u00eda m\u00fasica para ser escuchada (y bailada) y sus composiciones e interpretaciones, desde luego, se encuentran entre lo m\u00e1s o\u00eddo de la historia del jazz. Terry Lyne Carrington, que presenta el \u00e1lbum y las grabaciones, dice de \u00e9l: \u201c<em>Su libertad interpretativa, combinada con su dominio del instrumento, le situaban no solo por delante de su tiempo, sino tambi\u00e9n como una fuerza visionaria de la m\u00fasica moderna<\/em>\u201d.<\/p>\n<p><em>Erroll Garner Symphony Hall Concert<\/em> forma parte de una trilog\u00eda -junto con <em>Erroll Garner Liberation and Swing<\/em> y <em>Erroll Garner Centennial Celebration<\/em>&#8211; con la que Octave Music Publishing Corp. quiere conmemorar el centenario del nacimiento de Garner, que tuvo lugar un fausto 17 de junio. Hace unos pocos a\u00f1os, en 2016, Octave Music cerr\u00f3 un acuerdo con Downtown Music Publishing para gestionar los derechos del extenso archivo de grabaciones del pianista que permanec\u00edan in\u00e9ditas y aunque buena parte de ellas se hab\u00edan perdido en el incendio de los Estudios Universal, que tuvo lugar en 2008, todav\u00eda quedan suficientes como para que en los a\u00f1os pr\u00f3ximos vayan apareciendo regularmente \u00e1lbumes como este.<\/p>\n<p>Dado que todos los temas que componen este \u00e1lbum, como hemos dicho antes, ya hab\u00edan sido publicados en su momento, se trata sobre todo de un ejemplar para \u201cconocedores\u201d, indicado sobre todo para quienes deseen incluir en su fondo de grabaciones, \u201calgo m\u00e1s\u201d. Por lo tanto y como era de esperar, la calidad del sonido ha sido mejorada hasta donde permite la tecnolog\u00eda actual. Las cintas originales han sido recuperadas y remasterizadas mediante el Proceso Plangent \u00a0y el resultado est\u00e1 disponible en las versiones de CD, vinilo de 180 gr. y archivo digital. La portada reproduce el cartel original de aquella velada hist\u00f3rica, completando as\u00ed una muy cuidada pieza destinada a los coleccionistas en general y amantes del pianista en particular.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: right;\">Tomajazz: \u00a9 <strong>Juan F.
