We lived at Baroness Nica von Koenigswarter\u2019s home in Weehawken, NJ.<\/p>\n<p>Once, we were at the piano together, and we played \u201cMy Ideal\u201d over and over again, maybe 25 times. I\u2019d play one chorus, and he\u2019d play one, and on and on! I wish it were recorded, because it would be really interesting to hear.<\/p>\n<p>To me, he was one of our greatest and most prolific composers. All those beautiful ballads: \u201cPannonica,\u201d \u201cReflections,\u201d \u201cAsk Me Now,\u201d \u201cMonk\u2019s Mood,\u201d they\u2019re all very special. And \u201c52nd Street Theme,\u201d Rhythm-a-ning,\u201d \u201cBolivar Blues,\u201d \u201cStraight No Chaser,\u201d all those things.<\/p>\n<p>When he died, I played Monk\u2019s music all night long.
