Su padre, adem\u00e1s de polic\u00eda, fue amigo de Louis Armstrong: el trompetista vivi\u00f3 en su casa cuando lleg\u00f3 por primera vez a Chicago.<\/li>\n<li>Adem\u00e1s de saxofonista, en algunas grabaciones se le puede escuchar tocar el piano.<\/li>\n<li>Aunque comenz\u00f3 a grabar en 1954, no grab\u00f3 a su nombre hasta 1972 (con casi 50 a\u00f1os), contando para ello con el apoyo de Rahsaan Roland Kirk.<\/li>\n<li>Se le considera el padre de la escuela de tenores de Chicago. Ken Vandermark le ha dedicado alguna de sus composiciones.<\/li>\n<li>Su hermano fue el guitarrista George Freeman. Su hijo es el tambi\u00e9n saxofonista Chico Freeman.
