Surgi\u00f3 como un sello subsidiario de Cadence Records, que encarg\u00f3 al cr\u00edtico musical Nat Hentoff la direcci\u00f3n del nuevo sello. A lo largo de dos a\u00f1os (ces\u00f3 su actividad a finales del a\u00f1o 1961), public\u00f3 m\u00e1s de treinta obras de jazz y blues en las que tuvo tanto el gran acierto de mirar hacia algunas de las figuras del jazz m\u00e1s creativo de ese momento, como en mirar a su vez a algunos cl\u00e1sicos incontestables. Su enorme acierto art\u00edstico que no se vio acompa\u00f1ado por el econ\u00f3mico, sino todo lo contrario. Tanto Candid como Cadence Records tuvieron que cesar su actividad antes de mediados de la d\u00e9cada de los a\u00f1os 60 del pasado siglo. Desde ese momento el cat\u00e1logo ha estado activo y disponible de un modo m\u00e1s o menos intermitente, de tal modo que obras maestras como <em>Freedom Now Suite<\/em><em> o Charles Mingus Presents Charles Mingus<\/em>, han estado disponibles para los aficionados.<\/p>\n<p>En los \u00faltimos a\u00f1os <a href=\"https:\/\/www.excelerationmusic.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Exceleration Music<\/a> ha reactivado el sello. A la publicaci\u00f3n de distintas novedades discogr\u00e1ficas, que en algunos casos han sido nominadas e incluso ganadoras de premios Grammy, se une en 2022 el proyecto de la reedici\u00f3n remasterizada en distintos formatos (LP, CD, digital), de algunos de los t\u00edtulos cl\u00e1sicos m\u00e1s rutilantes de su cat\u00e1logo cl\u00e1sico. En abril de 2022 ha reeditadoun primer lote de grabaciones incontestables <em><strong>Charles Mingus<\/strong> Presents Charles Mingus\u00a0<\/em>(coincidiendo con el centenario del genial contrabajista),\u00a0<em>We Insist!
