Con un estilo impregnado de leyendas, entre ellas Charlie Parker, Sonny Rollins y John Coltrane, el m\u00fasico de Michigan lleva un tiempo tom\u00e1ndose muy en serio que quiere darlo todo en los escenarios como si esto fuera una competici\u00f3n de a ver qui\u00e9n demuestra los mejores alardes t\u00e9cnicos.<\/p>\n<p>Es cierto que la fuerza que consume en sus conciertos, sus aceleraciones y el uso de una t\u00e9cnica impecable le han convertido en una apuesta ganadora entre los programadores. Pero, tambi\u00e9n lo es que acusa un evidente estancamiento en el camino que en estos a\u00f1os ha emprendido. No se entiende que alguien con tantos recursos y sabidur\u00eda jazz\u00edstica los malgaste en propuestas que no aportan nada nuevo.<\/p>\n<p>Como autor de dos obras maestras como <em>Trilogy<\/em> (1995) y <em>Pursuance: The Music of John Coltrane<\/em> (1996) causa un poco de rubor que Kenny Garrett se haya convertido en un m\u00fasico del que no se pueda esperar nada mejor.<\/p>\n<p>Su concierto en el Caf\u00e9 Berl\u00edn <a href=\"https:\/\/tomajazz.com\/web\/?p=58796\">fue un calco del que pudimos ver en el mes de noviembre pasado en el Teatro Pav\u00f3n<\/a>. Misma formaci\u00f3n y similares temas contenidos en <em>Sounds from the Ancestors<\/em>, su \u00faltimo disco hasta el momento, con una variedad de estilos musicales africanos o latinos, en torno a ritmos funky, soul o rap. Un recurso este de la vuelta a las ra\u00edces que ya empieza a ser un poco excesivo.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-63173\" src=\"https:\/\/tomajazz.com\/web\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/04\/KENNY-GARRETT-II-462x600.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"462\" height=\"600\" title=\"\" srcset=\"https:\/\/tomajazz.com\/web\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/04\/KENNY-GARRETT-II-462x600.jpg 462w, https:\/\/tomajazz.com\/web\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/04\/KENNY-GARRETT-II-154x200.jpg 154w, https:\/\/tomajazz.com\/web\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/04\/KENNY-GARRETT-II-768x997.jpg 768w, https:\/\/tomajazz.com\/web\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/04\/KENNY-GARRETT-II-424x550.jpg 424w, https:\/\/tomajazz.com\/web\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/04\/KENNY-GARRETT-II-385x500.jpg 385w, https:\/\/tomajazz.com\/web\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/04\/KENNY-GARRETT-II.jpg 770w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 462px) 100vw, 462px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Entre tanto colorido r\u00edtmico, la cosa se transform\u00f3 y tambi\u00e9n apareci\u00f3 el gran improvisador que es Garrett. Como pose\u00eddo por los esp\u00edritus de Charlie Parker y Sonny Rollins interpret\u00f3 un tema que comenz\u00f3 a cuarteto con el bater\u00eda, <strong>Marcus Baylor<\/strong>, <strong>Vernell<\/strong> <strong>Brown<\/strong> al piano y el contrabajista, <strong>Corcoran<\/strong> <strong>Holt<\/strong>. Y ah\u00ed s\u00ed que estaba el gran Kenny Garrett. Despu\u00e9s en terceto con contrabajo y bater\u00eda, para terminar en un solo de quince minutos sencillamente magistral. Pero, para entonces ya hab\u00eda transcurrido una hora de concierto. En la recta final, m\u00e1s piezas muy dulcificadas, con apoyo de las congas y los fraseos percusivos de Vernell Brown al piano, transcurri\u00f3 la hora y media de concierto.<\/p>\n<p>Como ya sucedi\u00f3 en su anterior estancia en Madrid, lleg\u00f3 el fin de fiesta con los asistentes entusiasmados aplaudiendo y bailando de pie, disfrutando de algo que ya no ten\u00eda nada que ver con el jazz.
