Sin embargo, este es el caso de la grabaci\u00f3n que Cyrus Chestnut ofrece a los amantes del buen jazz y, en especial, a quienes tienen predilecci\u00f3n por la cl\u00e1sica combinaci\u00f3n de piano-bater\u00eda-contrabajo, con la que rinde tributo a McDonald Chestnut, con motivo de su reciente deceso, a los ochenta y cinco a\u00f1os de edad.<\/p>\n<p>Cyrus cuenta que la imagen de las manos de su padre acariciando el teclado es uno de los primeros recuerdos que conserva y que el deseo de imitarlo fue lo que le llev\u00f3 a convertirse en pianista \u00e9l mismo. McDonald, consciente de las tempranas inclinaciones de su hijo, lo alent\u00f3 a seguir sus pasos, pues seg\u00fan el propio Cyrus nos dice, introducirle en el mundo de la m\u00fasica fue la mejor herencia que podr\u00eda haberle dejado.<\/p>\n<p>Cyrus ha querido acompa\u00f1arse de dos excelentes int\u00e9rpretes, el bajista Tommy Flanagan y el bater\u00eda Lewis Nash, quienes completan un trio capaz de desgranar con el swing que temas cl\u00e1sicos como \u201cThere Will Never Be Another You\u201d, \u201cBaubles, Bangles and Bead\u201d o \u201cThinking About You\u201d requieren. Los diez temas que integran este \u00e1lbum, por tanto, est\u00e1n te\u00f1idos por la especial emoci\u00f3n del artista que los recopila, Cyrus, para quien sin duda tienen un significado que va m\u00e1s all\u00e1 de lo que cualquiera de nosotros es capaz de atrapar.<\/p>\n<p>Lo que s\u00ed podemos hacer es disfrutar del excelente resultado: \u201cWorking Out Just Fine\u201d, con un toque de soul; aires latinos en el citado \u201cCubano Chant\u201d o la suavidad de \u201cBut Beautiful\u201d. El \u00e1lbum se cierra con una pieza muy especial, \u201cEpilogue\u201d, que evoca los \u00faltimos minutos en la vida de McDonald Chestnut. \u201c<em>Estuve all\u00ed cuando le retiraron la respiraci\u00f3n asistida y su pulso cay\u00f3 de sesenta a cero<\/em>\u201d, explica Cyrus. \u201c<em>La \u00faltima parte de esta pieza, en la que hay un movimiento crom\u00e1tico, representa esos momentos finales<\/em>\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>Por mucho que estas palabras puedan evocar un sentimiento de tristeza, lo cierto es que, en conjunto, el sentimiento que destaca en <em>My Father\u2019s Hands<\/em> es la gratitud, pero sea como sea, nunca mejor que en este caso para demostrar una vez m\u00e1s aquello tan manido de que la m\u00fasica \u2014y en especial el jazz\u2014 es sobre todo emoci\u00f3n.
