El poder de la palabra es irresistible y por buena que sea una melod\u00eda, si no lleva letra\u2026 a mucha gente le parece que falta algo. Claro que vistas algunas de las cosas que le gustan a \u201cla gente\u201d pues no siempre resulta ser un indicador fiable de lo que tiene calidad y lo que no.<\/p>\n<p>Este tema fue originalmente escrito en 1947, por Alan Jay Lerner y Frederick Loewe para el musical <em>Brigadoon<\/em>, que va de un pueblecito escoc\u00e9s que aparece durante un d\u00eda cada cien a\u00f1os (que, a su vez, se basa en una vieja leyenda alemana). Una historia encantadora que arras\u00f3 en el West End londinense de posguerra. Todav\u00eda se representa en Nueva York, pero por si no tienen ocasi\u00f3n de acercarse hasta la Gran Manzana en breve, les recomiendo la pel\u00edcula del mismo t\u00edtulo, dirigida por Vincent Minnelli y protagonizada por Gene Kelly y Cid Charise; una joya, se lo aseguro.<\/p>\n<p>Pero no nos desviemos del tema; \u201cAlmost Like Being In Love\u201d tuvo tanto \u00e9xito, que no tard\u00f3 en convertirse en un est\u00e1ndar y tal vez ustedes hayan escuchado las versiones de Nat King Cole, Ella Fitzgerald o Frank Sinatra. Por cierto, ya que estamos con preguntas que no van a ninguna parte, \u00bfse han preguntado por qu\u00e9 algunos cantantes tienen tanto \u00e9xito? Aparte de porque tengan buenos agentes art\u00edsticos, una promotora fuerte respald\u00e1ndolos y canten de maravilla, quiero decir. Pues la respuesta es porque eligen muy bien sus canciones. La <em>songlist<\/em> de estas estrellas est\u00e1 llena de temas con los que es imposible fallar y este es uno de esos temas. Hasta ustedes o yo podr\u00edamos tener (un moderado) \u00e9xito si lo cant\u00e1semos.<\/p>\n<p>El tema es tan bueno que funciona incluso en su versi\u00f3n instrumental y <em>Tomajazz<\/em> les ofrece la prueba, extra\u00edda del \u00e1lbum <em>Red Garland\u2019s Piano<\/em> (Prestige, 1957) y a cargo del trio liderado por Red Garland, con \u00e9l mismo al teclado, Paul Chambers al contrabajo y Art Taylor a la percusi\u00f3n.
