Lisboa (Portugal)<\/li>\n<li>Grupo:<br \/>\n<strong>Marqu\u00e9s-Cabaud Quartet con John O\u00b4Gallagher y Jeff Williams<\/strong><br \/>\nGon\u00e7alo Marqu\u00e9s \u2013 trompeta<br \/>\nJohn Gallagher \u2013 saxo alto<br \/>\nDemian Cabaud \u2013 contrabajo<br \/>\nJeff Williams \u2013 bater\u00eda<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>En esta segunda incursi\u00f3n por el Hot Club de Portugal he tenido la suerte de encontrarme con uno de los m\u00fasicos m\u00e1s inquietos e interesantes del jazz de hoy en Portugal, el trompetista Gon\u00e7alo Marqu\u00e9s que junto, con un inseparable, el contrabajista argentino afincado en Lisboa Demian Cabaud, han conformado para esta ocasi\u00f3n un cuarteto de aut\u00e9ntico lujo con dos referentes claros del jazz de vanguardia en Nueva York, como son el saxo alto John Gallagher y el bater\u00eda Jeff Williams, con los que llevan cierto tiempo colaborando despu\u00e9s de la estancia de Gon\u00e7alo y Demian en la Berklee College of Music de Boston. De hecho, Gon\u00e7alo form\u00f3 parte del grupo de Jeff Williams en 2017-2018 y por otro lado el bater\u00eda norteamericano form\u00f3 parte del grupo que grab\u00f3 el \u00faltimo disco de Gon\u00e7alo Marqu\u00e9s <em>Linhas<\/em> (Carimbo Porta-Jazz 2019) junto al pianista Jacob Sacks y el contrabajista Masa Kamaguchi.<\/p>\n<p>Gon\u00e7alo Marqu\u00e9s es un m\u00fasico muy ligado al Hot Club de Portugal, de hecho, despu\u00e9s de algunos escarceos con la guitarra entr\u00f3 en la Escuela de Jazz Luiz Villas-Boas del Hot Club a estudiar trompeta con Jo\u00e3o Moreira en los inicios de su carrera musical. La relaci\u00f3n se ha mantenido y consolidado despu\u00e9s de su vuelta a Portugal en 2005, tras su estancia de cuatro a\u00f1os en la Berklee. Fue director musical del Hot Clube Septet en 2013 y 2014 y ha colaborado de forma habitual con la Big Band del Hot Clube. Tambi\u00e9n ha venido desarrollando una intensa actividad docente en varios frentes, a nivel nacional e internacional, y para diversos p\u00fablicos objetivo, concretamente en la Escola Superior de M\u00fasica de Lisboa (desde 2008) y en la \u201cEscola do Hot Clube\u201d, siendo responsable de la organizaci\u00f3n de los talleres de verano dedicados a j\u00f3venes de entre diez y quince a\u00f1os. Tambi\u00e9n fue profesor en \u201cJB Jazz\u201d y en la\u201d Escola de Jazz do Barreiro\u201d, entre otras instituciones educativas, y fue responsable del programa Gulbenkian \u201cJam\u201d, acercando el jazz a las escuelas. Es el director pedag\u00f3gico de las \u201cF\u00e9rias com Jazz\u201d promovidas por el Centro Cultural de Bel\u00e9m y tambi\u00e9n est\u00e1 ligado en los \u00faltimos a\u00f1os al mundo del teatro y la danza en su faceta de compositor. Por otro lado, con su compa\u00f1ero el contrabajista Demi\u00e1n Cabaud pusieron en marcha su propio sello discogr\u00e1fico en 2016 \u201cRobalo Musix\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/robalomusic.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">https:\/\/robalomusic.com\/<\/a> , que organiza tambi\u00e9n un festival de jazz.<\/p>\n<p>La m\u00fasica que present\u00f3 en el Hot Club, muy derivada de su \u00faltimo trabajo, profundiza en la idea de establecer l\u00edneas muy finas entre lo escrito y la capacidad de improvisaci\u00f3n de los int\u00e9rpretes, en un contexto muy favorable promovido por el soporte de una secci\u00f3n r\u00edtmica como la formada por el contrabajista Demi\u00e1n Cabaud y el bater\u00eda Jeff Williams muy abierta y que multiplica las posibilidades de m\u00fasicos de las caracter\u00edsticas del saxofonista John O\u00b4Gallaghan y el propio Gon\u00e7alo Marqu\u00e9s. M\u00fasica de amplio espectro desde la m\u00e1s clara referencia a la tradici\u00f3n jazz\u00edstica hasta la frontera m\u00e1s pr\u00f3xima a la m\u00fasica cl\u00e1sica contempor\u00e1nea.
