Autor de \u00abMalague\u00f1a\u00bb y \u00abLa comparsa\u00bb, lleg\u00f3 a escribir una \u00f3pera. Uno de sus temas m\u00e1s conocidos es \u00abSiboney\u00bb. Dizzy Gillespie y Stan Getz lo interpretaron magistralmente en su <i>Diz And Getz<\/i> de 1955 (grabaci\u00f3n de diciembre del 53). Presentado en dos partes, tras el <em>riff\u00a0<\/em>de contrabajo inicial apoyado por la guitarra (Ray Brown y Herb Ellis, ni m\u00e1s ni menos), Dizzy expone la melod\u00eda con aire afro oscuro. Despu\u00e9s la banda se sumerge en un\u00a0<em>swing\u00a0<\/em>r\u00e1pido donde se suceden los solos de trompeta y piano (Oscar Peterson en persona) para volver al <i>riff\u00a0<\/i>inicial, con Gillespie recordando la melod\u00eda.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">La segunda parte arranca con ritmo cubano de la mano de Max Roach. Ahora es Stan Getz el que expone el puente del tema, volviendo al\u00a0<em>swing\u00a0<\/em>con solos de saxo, piano y trompeta para acabar en la melod\u00eda original con Getz subrayando la l\u00ednea de Dizzy.
