Y hablo de regalo porque si <em>Phrase 6<\/em> (FSNT, 2004) es un placer para los o\u00eddos, la nueva producci\u00f3n del pianista afincado en la Gran Manzana no lo es menos.<\/p>\n<p><em>Personal Tonal<\/em> es un disco construido a base de tensi\u00f3n arm\u00f3nica y lienzos modales que el cuarteto utiliza para trazar escarpados paisajes musicales dibujados desde el aire, y que destaca por la compacidad y complicidad con la que los cuatro m\u00fasicos se desenvuelven. En temas como \u00abPersonal Tonal\u00bb o \u00abGate C53\u00bb, los acordes de Lossing hacen imposible el aterrizaje mel\u00f3dico de Stillman durante sus desarrollos instrumentales; en \u00abPlate 80\u00bb es el irregular terreno r\u00edtmico el que dificulta la tarea para tomar tierra de todo el cuarteto, mientras que Ozart May deja la impresi\u00f3n de estar observando una tormenta el\u00e9ctrica desde uno de los asientos de este nuestro particular avi\u00f3n.<\/p>\n<p>Adem\u00e1s de las composiciones originales de Lossing, el cuarteto rinde un espectacular tributo en forma de versiones a las figuras de Ornette Coleman con su \u00abSchool Days\u00bb (me atrevo a afirmar que este CD debe mucho a la escuela del saxofonista tejano); a Ellington con la pieza \u00abHeaven\u00bb; a Charlie Parker en un cierre redondo del disco con \u00abScrapple From The Apple\u00bb; y de forma indirecta a la figura de Bill Evans a trav\u00e9s de la pieza de Van Heusen \u00abHere\u2019s That Rainy Day\u00bb. En un excelente ejercicio compositivo, Lossing y el resto de la tripulaci\u00f3n consiguen llevarse todas y cada una de las partituras versionadas a su personal terreno musical.<\/p>\n<p>Tras haber estado volando m\u00e1s de sesenta minutos sobre atm\u00f3sferas turbulentas, uno se tropieza de frente con el silencio y la distensi\u00f3n que \u00e9ste produce.
