En <i>Mirage<\/i> el m\u00fasico neoyorkino incide en las ideas ya anunciadas en el anterior (<i>Capsule<\/i> de 2012), e insiste en hacer un jazz electro-ac\u00fastico salpicado con algunos toques de otros g\u00e9neros musicales. En esta ocasi\u00f3n, se ha atrevido a a\u00f1adir un cuarteto de cuerdas, para lo que ha contado con la destacada colaboraci\u00f3n del violinista Mark Feldman.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Landrus es uno de los firmes valores del jazz en Nueva Cork. Disc\u00edpulo del hist\u00f3rico trombonista y compositor Bob Brookmeyer, acompa\u00f1ante en las giras de Esperanza Spalding y colaborador del director y compositor Ryan Truesdell, ganador en 2013 del premio al mejor disco del a\u00f1o que otorga la Asociaci\u00f3n de Periodistas de Jazz, con <i>Centennial<\/i>, un proyecto dedicado a Gil Evans.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Juntar a un quinteto de jazz con una secci\u00f3n de m\u00fasica cl\u00e1sica con viol\u00edn, viola y chelo. no es algo in\u00e9dito. Sin embargo, Landrus revitaliza la f\u00f3rmula proponiendo una m\u00fasica novedosa que, aunque con pinceladas cl\u00e1sicas, siempre apela al lenguaje del jazz. Aqu\u00ed los elementos de cuerda juegan un papel diferente que en otros proyectos similares. De ah\u00ed que sobresalga el buen trabajo de orquestaci\u00f3n que se ha realizado.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Este concepto introducido por Kaleidoscope se recrea en figuras y en ideas mel\u00f3dicas en las que todos los componentes adquieren su grado de compromiso con el resultado final. Las incorporaciones de Lonnie Plaxico y sobre todo de Mark Feldman refuerzan el conjunto. En <i>Mirage<\/i> hay pasajes inclinados hacia el <i>pop <\/i>como en la balada \u201cDon\u2019t Close Your Eyes\u201d. \u201cArrival\u201d se inicia con una extendida introducci\u00f3n de los vientos y el tema cambia con la guitarra de Felder, que hace una gran contribuci\u00f3n en el disco. \u201cThe Thousands\u201d se recrea con ciertos aires de <i>groove. <\/i>Plaxico comienza con un solo de contrabajo y dirige a ritmo de <i>reggae<\/i> en \u201cI\u00b4ve Been Told\u201d. \u201cSomeday\u201d y \u201cMirage\u201d son dos prodigiosas composiciones donde tanto el guitarrista como Landrus al bar\u00edtono hacen gala de una gran frescura interpretativa. En \u201cReach\u201d y en \u201cKismet\u201d, Landrus se luce con sendos solos luminosos con el bar\u00edtono.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><i>Mirage<\/i> es un original experimento, en el que Landrus une dos \u00e1mbitos musicales, utilizando la secci\u00f3n de cuerdas como un refuerzo de las armon\u00edas para lograr un claro contraste entre el lirismo de lo cl\u00e1sico y el matiz urbano del jazz.
