Y las dos son parientes tuyos\u00bb.<\/p>\n<p>Es cierto que los negociados del rock y del jazz no son exactamente iguales. Salvo algunos casos puntuales, las producciones discogr\u00e1ficas en el rock y el jazz no tienen nada que ver ni ahora, ni en el pasado. Es m\u00e1s, esos excesos en el rock con presupuestos pr\u00e1cticamente ilimitados ya son cosa de otro tiempo y del entretenimiento popular: en algunos casos son objeto de art\u00edculos acerca de las producciones m\u00e1s desastrosas del rock, mientras que en otro quedan como esas obras maestras objeto de art\u00edculos al estilo de las 314 grabaciones que todo el mundo deber\u00eda escuchar. En cuanto a los aficionados al jazz, a la vista de algunos resultados, so\u00f1amos con los cientos de discos de jazz que se podr\u00edan haber grabado con algunos de esos presupuestos&#8230; \u00a1so\u00f1ar es gratis!<\/p>\n<p>Pero volviendo al disco ganador del Grammy <em>Basie Swings The Blues<\/em>, esta s\u00ed es una gran producci\u00f3n. Por una parte, est\u00e1 The Count Basie Orchestra, que dirigida por <strong>Scotty Barnhart,<\/strong> contin\u00faa manteniendo el legado de <em>The Kid from River Bank<\/em>. M\u00e1s all\u00e1 de quedarse en recrear un repertorio de lujo orientado al blues (al fin y al cabo estamos hablando de una figura esencial en el jazz al estilo <strong>Kansas City<\/strong>, con la enorme influencia que recogi\u00f3 del blues), el director de The Count Basie Orchestra y a su vez productor del disco, intent\u00f3 imaginar c\u00f3mo funcionar\u00eda la fusi\u00f3n entre la m\u00fasica de Count Basie y el blues.<\/p>\n<p>Para materializar esa idea cont\u00f3 con una n\u00f3mina de invitados relacionados con el blues que es para quitarse el sombrero. All\u00ed est\u00e1 el George Benson \u00abguitarrista de jazz\u00bb, que tanto se puede (que podemos&#8230; que puedo) a\u00f1orar a la vista de algunas de sus producciones de las \u00faltimas d\u00e9cadas. Tambi\u00e9n est\u00e1n los instrumentistas (en algunos casos cantantes) Robert Cray, Charlie Musselwhite, Keb&#8217; Mo&#8217;, Castro \u00abMr. Sipp\u00bb Coleman&#8230; A las voces colaboran Bobby Rush, Shemekia Copeland, Betty LaVette, Leidisi&#8230; Estas figuras y otras (nuevas unas y otras no tanto), realizan colaboraciones puntuales a lo largo del disco: la mayor parte de los invitados colaboran en un \u00fanico tema.<\/p>\n<p>De ese modo consiguen una magn\u00edfica fusi\u00f3n de jazz y blues, y que el disco sea una fiesta para los o\u00eddos. Para ello echan mano de ese recurso tan efectivo que es ir alternando las intervenciones de los solistas invitados\u00a0 con la de los solistas de la orquesta, aderezando todo ello con el magn\u00edfico trabajo y los arreglos de la orquesta. El repertorio est\u00e1 elegido magn\u00edficamente, y de ese modo la variedad y la calidad son lo que predomina en la grabaci\u00f3n. En algunos temas predomina el <em>swing<\/em>, mientras que otros temas est\u00e1n orientados mayoritariamente hacia el blues en estilos que miran a distintos lugares y \u00e9pocas. Como corresponde, hay baladones irresistibles y tiempos medios. Globalmente es una producci\u00f3n muy bien medida en la que nada sobra.<\/p>\n<p>M\u00e1s all\u00e1 de los premios, <em>Basie Swings The Blues<\/em> es una grabaci\u00f3n m\u00e1s que recomendable, que vuelve a ahondar en el legado del gran <strong>Count Basie<\/strong>. Un m\u00fasico at\u00f3mico cuya figura musical (ah\u00ed est\u00e1n sus grabaciones), sigue siendo totalmente recomendable.
