Su incendiario solo en \u00abDiminuendo and Crescendo In Blue\u00bb es uno de esos momentos \u00fanicos al que a cualquier aficionado (y no s\u00f3lo al jazz) le hubiera gustado asistir.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Como consecuencia de semejante demostraci\u00f3n de poder\u00edo, el saxofonista tuvo la oportunidad de comenzar a grabar como l\u00edder. El CD seleccionado en esta ocasi\u00f3n fue publicado en 2007 por Fresh Sound Records, y recoge el material de tres sesiones de grabaci\u00f3n que dieron lugar a <em>Cookin&#8217;<\/em> a nombre de Paul Gonsalves (con una portada en la que el poder\u00edo del saxofonista fractura el cristal de la portada al que dirige su sonido), el LP colectivo <em>The Jazz School<\/em> (en el que Gonsalves participaba en la cara B), y <em>The Colourful Strings of Jimmy Woode<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">En compa\u00f1\u00eda de m\u00fasicos de la orquesta de Ellington (el trompetista Clark Terry, el contrabajista Jimmy Woode y el baterista Sam Woodyard), y de los entonces j\u00f3venes pianistas Junior Mance y Ramsey Lewis (entre otros), realiza una vibrante incursi\u00f3n por los terrenos del <em>swing<\/em> con lo que uno puede esperar de la especialidad incluyendo baladas, <em>blues<\/em> e incluso alg\u00fan tema <em>funky<\/em>, todo ello servido por unas intervenciones brillantes.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">La mayor parte de los temas son composiciones del propio Gonsalves (esc\u00fachese su vibrante \u00abFestival\u00bb), Clark Terry y Jimmy Woode, aunque tambi\u00e9n hay espacio para repasar a cl\u00e1sicos del g\u00e9nero como \u00abIt Don&#8217;t Mean A Thing\u00bb, el redescubierto para la publicidad \u00abThe Way You Look Tonight\u00bb, \u00abDon&#8217;t Blame Me\u00bb y \u00abEverything Happens To Me\u00bb.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: right;\">\u00a9 Adolphus van Tenzing, 2014<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Paul Gonsalves: <em>Cookin&#8217;.
